Weird
zeekgason 23/05/2017 23:28This is an extraordinarily beautiful building, lovely woodwork throughout, period pieces abound as decoration, stained glass and rich in historical detail, but the host was beyond unfriendly. The owners own both this inn and a very similar one across the street, Lookaway Inn. The wife is the caretaker of the rosemary inn, which is their home. Upon arrival we were told that we would be, "invisible to her and she should be considered invisible to us. There would be no need to acknowledge each other, even if we were in the same room. " This was the most bizarre thing we have ever heard in a b & b. And we've been to numerous b & b's. Then we were pointedly ignored throughout the visit even when we walked past her. We also had told them weeks in advance in a written email that by medical necessity, we were vegan and could they please make our breakfast within those perimeters, which basically translates to oatmeal & fruit. Just before arrival they politely declined and gave us a refund per day for the meal. We were informed at arrival, how she couldn't go making all kinds of different breakfast for individual guest, but we never saw anyone else eat there or spend more then a single night, nor did we smell anything cooking, ever. She also provided ONCE, a half cup of coffee and a thimble of creamer to my husband in the refreshment center upstairs. We were there 5 very unpleasant days. Our room was straightened exactly once in those 5 days, on Monday when a maid came in. It got unbearably hot one evening but we had been told when we came that there was a fan & screens that could be put in the windows to cool the room down. It wasn't until another guest arrived and our last night there, that she turned on the ac. There is no mingling with other guest and hosts, no southern graciousness, no 5 pm treats in the parlor. She claimed they were NOT a hotel, but the hotel we finished out our trip in basically put their complete lack of hospitality to shame. We give them a 9 on appearance and a -10 on b&b hospitality.
Highly Recommend
Ed Ron 25/04/2017 18:39My husband and I stopped for a one night stay to visit our daughter and son in law on our way back north from Florida. I can't say enough about the wonderful accommodations and the friendliness of Kelly and Diana, the owners. We were treated like honored guests in their home. The Carolina Suite was super clean and the bed extremely comfortable and I'm very picky when it comes to those things. Our only disappointment is that, because of a 10 hour drive ahead of us, we were unable to stay for the morning breakfast. Diana kindly offered to send us on the road with some fruit. We definitely plan on coming back when we head south. We look forward to visiting and taking advantage of the stunning front porch and all that the Rosemary Inn has to offer.
Wonderful Experience!
Sally Gon 23/04/2017 20:03This was a fun girls trip weekend, and The Rosemary Inn was the highlight! Kelly and Diana are the most lovely of hosts, and the mansion and rooms are a must see for any traveler on this side of the state of SC. Wonderful experience all around!
Brides Beware
WorldTravel1000on 17/04/2017 15:10Brides beware they are sneaky. I stayed here in the most expensive suite for both the day before my wedding night and my honeymoon. They knew I was a bride, there were many conversations and questions prior. However, they did not inform me that it would be a 125 dollar fee (per hour) to take any pictures in the bed and breakfast until the morning of my wedding when I was getting ready and it was too late to change plans. They were not upfront. In addition, once I agree (I had no choice at this point) they started from the second the groomsmen arrived even though the photographer was not there yet. They even counted the time the photographer was taking pictures in the room I paid for! I would not recommend this place - beautiful venue yes, but what is that worth if they are not honest and stress you out on such a beautiful day. (FYI They also own the B&B across the street).
Wonderful Old South Destination!
Jim Mon 11/04/2017 03:17Love this place! Got married here in 2010! Family owned with that personal Southern hospitality! Wonderful place for special events or just a weekend in a historical atmosphere! Prices are very reasonable and the quality of service is outstanding! Welcome home!
