Beautiful setting with service to match

phillytraveldocon 23/07/2017 00:48

We just returned from 5 nights in the Rosewood Tuckers Point, and we were truly blown away by the location, the amenities, but most especially the service. They truly go out of their way to provide a level of old world service that is second to none. The setting is high on a promontory overlooking a beautiful bay. The view from the villas, the rooms, the restaurant and the pools are incredible. The beach is a far trip down the hill, and not really walkable due to no shoulders, but our villa came with a golf cart, and there was frequent shuttle service if you do not have that amenity

Our deal came with breakfast included, which was helpful since meals are very pricy here, but the breakfasts are outstanding. Lunch at the beach was appropriately priced for a resort, and the small salads are very large and not at all expensive. All in all the food was inventive and top quality. Our only dinner was at the Point, which is a very elegant restaurant with terrific food and, of course, great service.

There are 4 pools to choose from, the large infinity pool on the top level, a moderate sized pool one level down, and then two pools by the beach. The beach itself truly does have pink sand, which by the way never gets hot, and is great for swimming. The water is a clear deep blue.

Golf is reasonably priced, and the course was in great shape. The only problem was trying not to be distracted by the views, which are terrific on many holes. Hazards include roosters running around the fairways.

We had a bad experience at an off-resort restaurant named Blu. When we mentioned this to the concierge they were mortified, insisted on buying us desert that night at their bar, and called the next day to make sure we knew how sorry they were, despite them having nothing to do with it. Again, service is what they do best.

Beautiful Setting with unpredictable service

Let me first say that I chose this hotel after countless recommendations from friends who have been there, and also that I am generally a big fan of Rosewoods hotels. We even honeymooned at one, and I have never been disappointed. This hotel is great, the food is great, the rooms are nice, the island is amazing (nicest beach ever). However, i found the service to be disappointing. I called several weeks in advance to make 4 dinner reservations. The first one was never made. We literally showed up to Sul Verde at the Tuckers Pt golf club (AMAZING, a must go) and they didn't have our name down. They sat us anyway, but it just gave us pause. The next hiccup occurred when we were told we had a 8 pm reservation at Mickeys at Elbow Beach (another must go). I made this reservation through the TP concierge and they knew it was our anniversary, they suggested the location and "made the reservation". Well, we showed up and not only was there no reservation made they informed us that they do not take outside reservations for parties of two who are not staying in the hotel and that the TP concierge knows this. I couldn't believe it, tears were shed. TP had no explanation of what happened. This is not the typical Rosewood Experience.
I will say that we called and complained and they put champagne in our room to make up for it but these two things, combined with jumbled spa appts, a lost bag and general misinformation given out by the front desk, all add up tp us not returning there. We will return to Bermuda though, it was amazing.

safe haven

Rosewood Tucker's point is the place to be , the rooms are fabulous , the balconies are great with unbelievable views. the employees from management to servers are extraordinary. I suggest this hotel for its luxury and their pool is unbelievable . I thank the whole crew of rosewood tucker point for their hospitality.

Babymoon at Tucker's point

dingy1287on 11/07/2017 04:34

My husband and I wanted to book a last minute babymoon and coming from philadelphia, Bermuda seemed like a sure thing. Neither of us have ever been to the island before, it's a quick direct flight, and we had friends who had stayed at the rosewood Tucker's point and raved about it. So, despite the cost, we booked since we have been to other rosewood resorts and have loved our experiences there.
The hotel itself is very nice, we had a poolside room near the adult pool with a small outdoor space on the ground level. The room was clean- relatively new, bathroom was beautiful. Two major things- the thermostat was constantly giving us trouble- and right now in Bermuda it is 80+ and humid all day and all night. Even the hallways were insanely hot, which makes no sense to me since that filters into the rooms as well. The second thing, and this could be me- is that every time a door shuts in the hallway you Hear it like it's your own. Mind you I'm pretty pregnant and noise sensitive so this might not bother other people.
The resort location is another potential negative if you don't want to be stuck in one spot- we had to rely on cabs at least $50 out and back to go to dinner in Hamilton. There are no restaurants close to this resort so if you want a place to stay and not leave this is a good option. The prices at rosewood are truly insane for food. Understandably, most things are imported, but having a $12 orange juice or $10 iced coffee is hard to swallow- no pun intended. Breakfast will run you $100/day for two people easy. We bought a breakfast meal plan $80 for 2 people each day but then realized it doesn't include gratuity which hikes it back up to $95- painful. Breakfast and lunch are great at the resort but dinner is just okay. Bermuda isn't really a foodie island so no matter where you go in my opinion it will be rare if you are a well seasoned restaurant goer that you will be impressed.
Another thing that I was surprised about was how many kids were at the resort. I was under the impression this was a couples spot but not so. There were kids of all ages everywhere, not really a romance spot or at least not while we were there.
Staff was over the top friendly, always accommodating any time we needed anything. The beach is far from the hotel, but the resort allowed us to rent a golf cart each day which really helped us get around. The beach is beautiful water is amazing can be a little choppy at times. The resort is also close to the airport, about 15 minutes. Super cute gift shop, we had a couples massage which was wonderful as well at the spa there.
Overall, pros and cons, some controllable and some preference. Had a nice time and will go back maybe when it's less crowded (and I'm less pregnant)
