Worst & horrible experience ever faced in my 35yrs of hospitality experince
shankarkotianon 05/06/2016 12:18Surprised to know after check-in that it is not rotana brand at all. Huge sign of rotana displayed. Booking.com misleading the people when booked on-line. Worst & horrible experience ever in life of hospitality, filthy smelling minibar, left over food, half empty mineral water and empty cans of beverages found in the mini-bar, next room flush and drainage noise clearly heard in our room, very smelly, dark corridors, big attitude of the staff. No remote control for TV. TV channel had challenge till the room attendant replaced with new remote control. Only one bath towel provided, specially when you book for 3 pax. Poor refilling of the breakfast buffet. Asked for omelette, refused to serve as it is not part of the buffet. Safe box not working. While booking the staff was very rude and everything with negative answer, even he does not know the location of the hotel when asked to give the proper location while coming from sohar to the hotel. Anything I asked him answer was "NO". not helpful at all.
Clean, good location and helpful staff
Vazilon 24/04/2016 13:49No, this isn't a 5 star hotel maybe a 2 star, but if you are looking for a clean room with a reasonable rate in a walkable area then this is for you. The staff was kind and checked me in early. The breakfast was expansive and fresh. Nothing fancy here just a solid hotel for travelers. Wifi is weak, weak, weak...
You get what you pay for...
Patrick Kon 02/04/2016 15:12We had been booked into another hotel but got the Rotana for half the price of the other place a few days before traveling & having stayed in the Rotana in Dubai & eaten in the one in Doha the deal seemed great. The deal was still good, breakfast is fine & the rooms are spacious if tired, but this isn't the same group as all the other Rotana hotels in the ME & is much more of a budget hotel. With what we saved we paid to use the pool at the InterContinental & had brunch at the Grand Hyatt, so we feel we more than made up for the lack of outside space at the Rotana. The gym is OK, but the pool is basically in a basement & we only went t it once. I wouldn't come back here with the family, but it would be fine for a lads weekend - although the nearest bars are in the Park Inn or Holiday Inn, about 10 minutes walk away...
Falling apart
Darcy345on 15/02/2016 14:13This must have been a great hotel a couple of years ago. The rooms are spacious and the location is great. But now, total lack of maintenance and the oblivious staff make it a horrible experience.
When we entered a room one of the staff was enjoying TV there. He didn't even seem surprised when we entered... I guess it is his daily routine, which explains why we did not get towels in the room. In addition we discovered the bathtub was broken - a huge piece sticking out as pictured that could cut a foot. Staff was not amazed by it... OK, whatever, "you wanna change your room? " Other pieces in the bathroom were falling apart too...
Breakfast buffet selection was not very tasty.
Overall, reminds me of that movie the Shining - a hotel suspended in another era with weird staff
