Basic Hotel
joojoox2on 20/12/2016 03:22Simple no frills hotel. The bed was not comfortable as it was like sleeping on a makeshift mattress. However, there was a Public bath which is good for late night Travellers to be refreshed after a Long drive from Wakkanai. The night shift employee at the front desk was grumpy but the morning shift employees were perky and nice. Parking was free.
Route Inn Grantia Hotel at JR Shiretoko Shari Station
Chuzaaon 14/07/2016 05:36This is a relatively new cozy hotel in the immediate vicinity of JR Shiretoko Shari Station and Roadside Station (Michi-no-Eki) Shari.
We were looking for a hotel in the Utoro area for sightseeing in the Shiretoko region but unable to find any and ended up with this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that it was a good choice.
Its rooms are all twin and for its pricing reasonable.
It doesn't offer any evening meals at the hotel. Instead it recommends several nearby restaurants within a few minutes walk. We were quite happy with this system. If it's rainy or super-windy, we may have a different opinion.
One young receptionist was very comfortable in speaking English.
Fine hotel
jimvdbergon 14/06/2016 14:39This is a new hotel, looking quite good right now and affordable if you book it through one of the booking sites. Most Japanese hotels are quite worn out these days, but this hotel doesn't. The room is neat with a small bathroom and the location is perfect, in the middle of this small slow and quiet town. Recommended.
Business class hotel in Shari town
Rachelyap_MYon 06/06/2016 11:31Initially i wanted to stay one night in Utoro but the GSP brought us to shari town. We tried to explore the ryokan or onsen in this town but no avail hence finally we decided to stay in this expensive hotel after asking around the neighborhood. The rate we asked at the front desk is more expensive than the online booking engine hence i made my room booking via agoda then only i check in. This hotel is nearby the train station, walking distance to the shari tourism information centre and nearby has shops and restaurant. The hotel room is clean and spacious and parking spot available for hotel guest at no cost. The temperature of the onsen is kept at 41c-42c for both in & outdoor. The skin feels different after the soaking and they provide good facilities in the hotel. Recommended if you plan to stay in shari town
Very good hotel, especially considering the price
Soodyeon 01/06/2016 06:38We stayed at this hotel for a night as a stop between Shiretoko and Akan Ko. I did not expect much and the hotel was cheaper compared to any hotels we booked in Hokkaido. I was easily impressed as a result and the room we got has a nice view of the mountain. The room is nice and modern, it does not look tired like other hotels in Japan for that price. Our room had wifi and it was working fine.
When we arrived at 5:30 pm, the hotel car park was almost full. The receptionist speaks English well. He recommended us a restaurant nearby called Shiretoko Kitchen that serves both Japanese and Western food. The foods in that restaurant were really good and good price too. The pork chop I had was so good with Sapporo classic and my wife enjoyed her Katsu curry and plum wine. We were seated in a private dining area, which was quite nice.
They have indoor and outdoor onsen here, small but good. I like the shampoo and bath gel too.
The breakfast was good, mostly Japanese style with a few western choices. There’s an espresso machine near the reception area.
JR train station is just outside. I really like this town for some reasons: clean, a little modern and developed, and nice mountain view.
