What People are saying

Luxury Overlooking the Bay

The seascape of the Exe Estuaury stretching before you can almost blind you to the sumptiousness and standard of the Hotel itself : The building, one of historic and architectural splendour, offers you an insight into 'Olde' Exmouth, giving you a flavour of a past era - I have sampled the delights of an extensive high-quality menu on a number of occasions; which I found to be always delicious and imaginatively presented

Short Break

We had stayed at the Falmouth Hotel which we loved so we came to Exmouth with high hopes but knowing it had only been taken over in January and needed updating. It was shabby but spotless. The service from all staff was excellent all the time.
Our room was a superior seaview twin [211]. I use a wheelchair. The lift was so small the chair had to be folded up and so did I !! Our bathroom was quite big but the chair wouldn't fit, the shower was so poor we couldn't get wet and the furniture was so old the varnish was missing. The view was absolutely lovely.
The food, which was a highlight at Falmouth, was excellent at lunchtime and very good value, dinner avocado and crab was awful, the mussels were delicious, the duck and cod were brilliant. The following night the menu was exactly the same except the mussels were unavailable but chicken parfait was good, the souffle was awful and we had the cod again!!!
Breakfast was ok but on the 1st morning we got twice as much scrambled egg as we got the second day. The homemade bread was lovely. Coffee was weak.
I doubt we will return to Exmouth but we would be interested to see the alterations. A survey was being carried out and a lot of money will need to be spent to bring it up to the standard of the Falmouth Hotel.
We paid £10.00 per night for designated parking which I needed. There isn't any outside space although it does face a green but the view of the water is hidden by rather ugly overgrown shrubs which should be cut down for everyone to benefit.

Needs some TLC

Stayed overnight, the view from the room was great, the decor was dated but understand hopefully this will improve. Some waiting staff could have been more tactful/helpful and the main course could improve. However overall the location was good and beach easily accessible.

A short stay

We only stayed for two nights, were we in the courtyard. We understand that the hotel had been recently taken over by a new group./company. My ratings are based on the facts they are new people - so - starting with the reception staff - they were very proficient, polite and friendly, we were booking in early so the room was not available - so we were offered a free cup of tea or coffee - very nice.
We went to the town/village and when we returned our room was available - it was clean and tidy - Room 403 - well almost - we had nice bath and hand towels, sadly the previous occupants towels were left in the bathroom.
This was resolved - no problems. We didn't use the restaurant, we thought it quite expensive. The hotel decor is quite 'tired', I'm sure the new owners know that, and will hopefully resolve that over the coming time - it will not be a quick fix. The breakfast staff were excellent, and the breakfast itself was very presentable. Overall I think it was reasonable - without being special.

Outstanding dog friendly stay

We stayed for 2 nights as we love Exmouth & wanted to extend a short break we already had booked. We booked this place as it is the perfect quiet location to enjoy all Exmouth has on offer as its close to everything. We had our pooch with us & all of us were made extremely welcome & very well looked after from arriving to the minute we left. Our room was great, very clean & comfy as well as very well equipped with hairdryer & iron. Facilities were all fantastic. The bar was a lovely space to sit as is the lounge with a nice view. At breakfast we had a table set up in the lounge so we could take our dog with us which was ideal. They had a nice selection of cereal, fruit & yogurt plus pastries to help yourself to & there was also fruit juices. You then ordered your hot drinks, toast & cooked options from a very polite & helpful waitress. Food was outstanding with gorgeous real butter for your toast. Service was great & staff all very friendly. During our stay we also had lunch a fresh crab sandwich which was great. You get a complimentary coffee/tea during your stay so that's a nice touch too. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely stay. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
