What People are saying

Characterful hotel with delicious breakfast

Lizzy064on 02/08/2017 18:31

I stayed for two nights in this hotel - it was peak season and they were clearly very busy but that didn't stop them from giving me the warmest welcome, checking me in efficiently, showing me to my room, parking my car and helping me with my luggage. I felt genuinely looked after and the room was small but full of character and had everything I needed. The bathroom was clean and the shower had excellent pressure plus you could remove the shower head if you didn't want to get your hair wet. (I always find that useful!). The bed was really comfortable and the room overlooked the inner part of the hotel but was very quiet. The hotel has two nice bars and the selection of wine is terrific - delicious chardonnay offered by the glass at a reasonable price. I didn't eat dinner on either occasion as I had other plans, but both my breakfasts were sumptuous. Lots of juice, fruit, jams, pastries, yoghurt, parma ham, cheese etc on offer. The croissants were yummy. I had eggs benedict on both occasions and it's always a test of a busy chef - it was perfectly cooked, The bread bun was toasted just the right amount, the Hollandaise sauce was delicious, I asked for bacon which was grilled so not oily, and the eggs were cooked soft, the way I like them. The location is just lovely and, when it was time to depart, my car was brought around for me and so I simply drove off. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Please , Please , Please can you change your Menu

I refer in particular to the two bars downstairs, The galleon and Sports bar which share the same menu and kitchen. For many years now we have frequented these two bars and enjoyed the food and hospitality greatly. While the service remains very good the Menu selection has been pared back considerably and has become rather bland , gone are Mussels and Cracked whole crab.which used to be so popular. The largest Steak you can now order is now a whopping £22.00 for basic 8oz Rump which i find has to be bulked out with garlic bread and sauce to satisfy my appetite.
This establishment was always ranked in my top two in Dartmouth but i now find myself proffering other restaurants in the town.

Lovely stay

I stayed here for one night with my partner and couldn't fault it, from the moment you arrive you are looked after you don't even need to park your car it's all done for you. The room was situated on the top floor(quite a few stairs) with nice views over the river. The staff are really friendly, nothing is too much trouble the food is brilliant as well . all in all it was a wonderful stay and we would return in the future

Beautiful Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for one night for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is steeped in history and the rooms are all unique. Our room overlooking the harbour was superb, pure luxury, complete with a box of local fudge and a card for our anniversary, a nice touch. We ate in The Grill Room where the food and service were exceptional. Breakfast was also excellent. A special mention should be given to 'Tom' who we understand had only been there for 3 days! His service at both dinner and breakfast was first class. A great stay!

Excellent staff, first class service.

We stayed for four nights (other people in our party staying for two) and the room (overlooking the marina) was lovely. Service from all the staff was very good indeed and I would like to highlight Nat for his attention and humour also!
I was very concerned at first regarding the valet parking. This proved to not to be a problem and the parking area is only around 200 metres from the hotel and should you wish to check on your vehicle it takes only a few minutes to do so.
The food was presented well and cooked to the satisfaction of all the people in our party numbering 15.
The owner made sure we were happy and made clear that he would be only too pleased to fulfil any requests that we may ask of him and his staff.
One of our requests was to ask that several tables be put together during our stay ensuring we would be able to eat together as a family. The staff set up a wonderful table arrangement fully in the window of the restaurant overlooking the marina...absolutely fabulous!
The location is so good for being very central for shops and many eating places.
We'll be back for more of the same.
