week stay
Charles Con 12/07/2017 19:53Very nice and helpful staff. Genuinely friendly. One of the fellas working there (Ra'i)
made me a bamboo pole for fishing and would bring me bait. He took me spear fishing with his personal gear when i asked. Refused a tip. Everyone there is all smiles.
Only way in and out of the resort is by boat three times daily. Resort is quiet and the most relaxing place i have ever been. The over the water bungalows are spacious with good A/C and a large deck. Fresh water shower on the dive deck. This place was simply fantastic. prices for food were considerably less than the Intercontinental on Moorea. If you are looking for a rowdy beach bar seen, then this place is not right. when we were there, it was best to buy drinks in town and put them in your fridge for your own deck.
Wonderful secluded resort
Ruben don 09/07/2017 22:31Royal Huahine is a wonderful and very secluded resort on the beautiful island of Huahine. The friendly local staff are very relaxed and helpful. We had the overwater bungalow and found it very spacious and private. Jumping off your own platoon and immediately start snorkeling is a great experience! Don't expect a very luxurious and all-included resort. The key aspects here are space, secluded location and the friendly staff. There is a 3-daily free navette to the main village (Fare) where there is a big supermarket.
Nice place to stay but no water
tbwongon 22/06/2017 19:18We thought the property was fine for the price we paid, except that one night we were there had no water (was told that it was the whole island). Nice large room, with stairs to the water, so I snorkeled at sunrise (not much fish though). There is some coral off the beach that one can swim and snorkel there. Have beach volleyball net and kayaks to use. One other item to mention is that there was lack of sufficient staff to handle all the guests arrivals and queries throughout stay. Only 1 staff was there to handle all queries, including handing out the snorkel gear and life jacket.
Definitely not worth it
sjmkingon 18/05/2017 04:33The only reason anyone might want to stay here, is to experience an overwater bungalow for a relatively affordable price. Yes, the overwater bungalows are spacious, but don't expect anything else. Everything is old and rustic and the stories about wasps are true. They are everywhere. Furthermore, service is non-existent and the food we had was close to inedible. It was really bad. The handful of staff who work there really don't care. And oh yes, the way we described the resort was a "ghost resort". Hardly any guests, hardly any staff. No staff at the pool bar, none at the beach beach bar, nothing. Felt abandoned.
In order to avoid any more disappointments, after the 1st day we went into town, bought enough food and drinks for the next two days and basically camped in our overwater bungalow.
Diamond in the Rough
Sunshine35on 08/05/2017 02:03I have so many mixed feelings about Royal Huahine Resort. Where do I start?
PROS:
Beautiful water and surrounding area
Nice beach area that you can walk right out and snorkel
Lots of beautiful fish to see
Peaceful and quite.
Large OTW bungalows
Friendly staff
Great food
Free rental equipment for snorkel gear and kayak
Free transportation to town 3 x a day
You can check out and still use the amenities/shower/pool/towels, etc.
CONS:
Bungalows are outdated and need of some minor repairs
AC unit outside was loud
Had a few wasp around our bungalow
No internet unless you pay for it
With this being said, I will explain why I say diamond in the rough. The resort is in a really beautiful location. A little boat picked us up from a dock and took us to the resort. (a few people stated they came by 4x4) If you want peace and quite, you will get it here. You come here when you want to do nothing but relax. There were only 10 other couples at the resort so you rarely saw anyone except for at dinner. I loved it! (nice change of pace after coming from Bora Bora, which was to commercial for me) Pool and beach was never crowded. It was almost as if you had your own private little island. The food was good. We had local fish almost everyday but they do have other things on the menu if you are not into fish. We feed the tropical fish bread right off of our bungalow deck. They actually came right up to the top and ate. The beach was nice to snorkel off of. Just walk right out and start snorkeling. We saw manta ray and various tropical fish. It was nice to have transportation for free into the town of Fare to pick up a few things. Its a pretty bumpy ride in the beginning but then you get on paved roads and its all good from there. There are also several guided tours offered on the island which travel arrangements will be made from your hotel. Our bungalow was huge, but it just needed updating and a deep scrub in some areas. If you are into shiny, blingy or posh accommodations, you will not find them here but you also have to remember its a 3 star resort. So with that being said, I can get over not having posh accommodations to enjoy pure peace, quite and relaxation. It really depends on what type of person you are to decide if you want to stay here. If you want excitement and nightlife, this is not the place for you. If you want to relax in a beautiful environment, this is for you. I personally would go back here again.
