Nice condo but impossible to get a pool chair!

Kingston Plantation is a very nice resort which can feel very exclusive at times with beautiful landscaping and upscale condos. We have always stayed at Margate, which is our favorite, but being more pricey, we chose Royale Palms for this year's summer vacation. Royale Palms is another one of many high rises in Kingston Plantation (about five buildings up the beach from Margate) and it just happens to be attached to the Hilton. It was our first time visiting Royale Palms this past week and although the condo was more than adequate, very spacious and comfortable, the pool facilities were overcrowded and at times felt more like a public pool than a resort. There were two main pools that we could use as Royale Palms guests and the Hilton guests could also use both. Therein lies the problem- two pools are just not enough to support two large properties, especially with the Hilton having 385 rooms and Royale Palms having 223 condos. For one of the pools, if you wanted a chair for the day, you had to be at the pool before 7:00 a.m. to lay out your towels, and you could not leave your chairs for more than an hour or the pool attendants would take your chairs and give them away. Who wants to be up before 7:00 a.m. on vacation? The other pool didn't open until 9:00 a.m., but you had to wait in line by 8:15 a.m. to rush in and get a chair when it opened. It was far too stressful! We gave up after the 2nd day and just stayed on the beach until about 4:00 p.m. when some chairs would eventually open up at the pools. We were disappointed as we like to go back and forth between beach and pool throughout the day. One other issue is that guests at other hotels/condos also in Kingston Resort would walk over to the Royale Palms/Hilton and stay for the day as they must have preferred our pools over the ones at their buildings and no one would turn them away. There was a bar and a live DJ everyday, so I think most people came to drink, dance, and party and they just never left. Overall, we enjoyed the condo a lot and we would give it a five-star rating, but the facilities were just too crowded to even be able to relax. For the amount of money we spent, I would rather have spent a little more and just gone back to Margate. It's much quieter, and they do monitor their pool so that only Margate guests can come in. It's far more relaxing and feels like a resort compared to Royale Palms.

Room and grounds were clean and inviting. Overall excellent looking place. My only complaint is how bad the resort/hotel is set up. It's too nice for some of these issues. Entering and exiting the resort to access the royale palms is a nightmare. Can take up to 15 minutes to exit the resort due to backed up traffic at one entrance/exit. Also there were long waits for the elevators in what is a very hot lobby. There is literally only one ice machine in the whole 24 floor building, which was located in the lobby. This sucks when you're staying on the 23rd floor. If the machine ran out of ice then you had to go next door to the Hilton hotel and use one of their machines which happened to be located on every floor there. Why would there be ice machines on every floor in the basic hotel but not the freaking condos??? I tried to call for room service and front desk a few times and there was no answer. Had to leave voicemails and wait for a call back. This place is too nice to have these issues. Stock up on groceries so you don't have to deal with the stresses of leaving the hotel during busy periods.

Family vacation

We take a Family vacation with the grand babies every year and we always stay at Royal palms. It's been really. I've in years gone by but the furniture is showing a lot of wear and fit the prices I would expect better.

Great location but room not well maintaed and lack of attention bybhotel staff to needs.

The room's toilet didn't work when we arrived and bathroom hot water faucet was broken. We asked for tolerance on numberous occasions and they never arrived. Some staff were excellent and others not so helpful.

We travelled here for a family wedding and had many guests staying in the resort. All were very satisfied! The facility was very accommodating and so much fun! The Royal Palms is perfectly located, beachfront, lots of pools and near the Tiki bar!
Couldn't have asked for a better location!
