We left after one night and went to IBIS

We arrived quite late after a long drive, but since we called we got the information needed to check in ourselves. We booked two rooms, but the envelope that the reception left us only had 1 room key. We called and quite angrily the receptionist came to give us the second room key.
The hotel had a very bad smell and the elevator and hallways were not clean. It was as if people smoked everywhere.
The rooms itself were terrrible. The curtains were broken, the kitchenette and bathroom was dirty, the plug socket was completely out in the open and incredibly dangerous. There was mould in the corner of the room, and they just painted over it. Since we had no other option, we stayed there for one night.
After being in touch with Booking.com we got offered another room in another building, but on our way there it was the same building we just stayed in and the room was just as bad.
With the help of booking.com, we cancelled the rest of our stay. Luckily, there were still rooms in an IBIS available, for a lower price and at a better location.

A basic, no frills hotel.

This hotel represents good value for money. The rooms are of good size and contain everything that you will need. It is quite well located being only about 10 minutes walk from the city centre. On the downside, the rooms were never serviced in the time that I was there (one week) although they were reasonably clean. I never sampled the food myself but my daughter had breakfast once and said that it was expensive and not very good. If you are just looking for something not too expensive to get your head down in, this fits the bill.

No parking offered, friendly staff.
As we walked into our room it stank of cigarette it was disgusting!!! I had to air the room but the smell still lingered. Had a shower the floor was flooded ..we then later found a mop and bucket in the cupboard?? Wondered if that was what it was for. Rough night not a great start to our journey. 🙁

Average hotel for average price

We stayed here as a family of 4 and found the check-in staff to be very helpful and accommodating. We arrived early and our room and parking place was ready and the staff allowed us to sit in the restaurant and eat our own bought lunch.
The room was large and well appointed however what let it down was it was not overly clean. It was disappointing to find it so dirty and not well cleaned after the last person. Also the heater in the bathroom did not work, and neither did the one in the main bedroom, so we had quite a cold night in December.

Location wise it is a bit of a walk into town (about 10-15minutes) but was not a drama with loads of shops and markets along the way.

Clean, Practical, away from City Center

Ruby Suites are a practical choice for a short stay - providing you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk to the restaurants and sights in the city center.

Check in can be inconvenient as the rooms are not ready until the 3pm schedule when reception opens. (However, they did allow us to use the parking earlier.)

Our room was clean, comfortable, and adequately equipped with towels and kitchenette (sink, small fridge, two electric burners, dishes, etc). Wifi and TV worked well. The bed was comfortable. A minor negative was drapes, which were heavy an dark with no liners to allow light.

A continental breakfast in the lobby is 9.90€, which might be OK for a rushed departure. Otherwise, you can have your own juice, fruit, cereal in your kitchenette.

The only negative of signicance is the distance to the city center. We'd definitely consider a repeat stay if coming through Strasbourg.
