What People are saying

Sensible value for money

David C on 10/11/2017 17:39

The entrance is very narrow and it was all but impossible to enter with a suitcase.
I was upgraded to a large and comfortable room. It had not be redecorated recently and the bathroom was a bit antiquated but it represented sound value. The members of staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was individually cooked and decent. A big warning though: don’t park your car at the far end of the hotel car park under cover as you will find the pigeons have been roosting above. After going through the car wash twice and still having a filthy car my recollections of the stay were slightly tarnished.

Friendly, efficient staff, but rooms need a good clean

We were greeted in a cheerful & friendly way at reception & were allocated room 351, up several flights of stairs & as far from reception as you can get, not good if you are unsteady on your feet. The room itself was fine, but the bed was hard & lumpy, not conducive to a good nights sleep. The bathroom needs some attention. The sink was cracked with who knows what lurking in the cracks & the bath taps covered in green mould.
Fortunately, we were only staying for one night.
We enjoyed our meal in the bar, good food & plenty of it. Breakfast was a buffet with cooked food served to your table, again great food.

Would not recommend.

Me and my partner stayed at the Rutland Arms on the 4th to the 5th of November.

On arrival the lady on the desk was very polite and welcoming. We was given our room keys and made our way up to the room. Our room was very small, I wasn't expecting a huge room, but for the price we payed I was expecting a bit more.
The bathroom is very dated and needs a good scrub. There was black mold around the bottom of the tap, and the shower was extremely old and leaked when on.

In the morning I was really looking forward to the cooked breakfast. I asked for a veggie sausage but was told there was none and I should have a tomato instead. I was a little disappointed by this as every hotel I have stayed in could offer at least a veggie sausage with breakfast. And for the price of the room I felt a little let down.

All in all I think the room is rather overpriced. The whole place could do with a revamp and a good scrub. You could pay a little less for a Premier Inn and get a nicer, cleaner stay.

Unhappy with service

Kevin M on 29/10/2017 12:40

Stayed at the hotel with a group of friends. The hotel was fine for our needs but could do with refurbishment. Very disappointed we could not get any service in the bar after we ate in the town. For two nights the bar man refused to open the bar in the evening saying he was unwell but if that was so why was he happy to take his pay but not do his job. Rather impolite in the way he talked to us. Made a dull end to the evening as the pub across the road very poor.
On a positive note good breakfast and a very obliging lady couldn’t do enough.

Overnight stay

We stayed at the hotel for one night after a days racing. We were greeted by friendly staff. The hotel is a Warren of stairs and twists and turns to find your room. We were in 354 quite a hike, the room was very tired badly needed updating, it had adequate facilities for an overnight stay and was quiet. We had a nice snack in the bar in the evening good value for money. We had a very good breakfast before leaving. The car park is a bonus situated at the rear of the hotel. Each staff member we met where friendly and helpful.
