What People are saying

Poets and Mystics

Sacred House is unlike any hotel I've ever stayed. A series of 21 guest rooms, a library, and salon this amazing cave hotel is decorated in a way that feels like another world. Mystics and poets meet angels and sprites in a palace of fine art. I slept and lingered in the Sultan room. The decor was sumptuous. The linens and towels were top quality with good smelling designer amenities and a generous mini bar. The room has a speaker and each guest receives an iPad with a series of playlists courtesy of Sacred House with a Bluetooth enabled speaker in the room. The wifi is strong all over the property. The room has a fireplace, wardrobe, divan, and a large bathroom. The room is decorated with Italian glass and Ottoman fine art to transport you to a little dream. The message is to relax and let your creative mind take over. My only discomfort was lack of air movement in my room despite it having large windows (it was hot weather) and the lovely woman at reception immediately brought me two standing fans which I kept for the three nights I stayed. The dining room and salon are a pleasure to take the fresh breakfast in each morning. The Staff and the Chef are all exceptional people and I enjoyed their kindness throughout my stay. While I did not use the subterranean pool and spa I did visit it. If Dante went for self care that would be the place. See for yourself!
I hope to return to Sacred House often enough to stay in each room. It is a tableau for a dream.

You will never stay anywhere more amazing

We had actually booked into another Lovely cave hotel in Urgup - but I'd heard about this place and was dying to see it with my own eyes. We knocked on the door and asked if we could look around. The staff couldn't have been more kind - We had cocktails at the bar and the treated us to a tour of the entire place - No picture or description can do it justice - Your jaw just drops and stays that way - Every new corner was a vital and sensual delight. No detail or cranny was left to chance, every inch had been thought about and embellished with art and united vision - It was literally like being in a dream. I cannot wait to go back and stay there full time!!

Divine liturgy embodied as architecture

We have travelled a lot in our lives and seen some incredible places, but when it comes to hotels, I don't think anything will surpass our experience at the Sacred House Hotel.
Even standing at the entrance gate which in itself is beautifully detailed with figural elements and exquisite ironware, you know you will find something extraordinary beyond.
I'd had a glimpse of this hotel on their website but nothing compares to being there in person. I have a particular love of gothic architecture so this hotel appealed to me initially because of all the gothic revival features but as we explored the hotel we realized that there is such a broad reference to different periods of history but the way they are combined and work in unison is due to the love and skill of the architect, who happens to be the owner of the hotel along with his wife. We had many conversations with Ece and we were delighted to meet her husband Turan as we were preparing to leave on our last day.
The different themes of the suites present different perspectives on architecture and feature different materials philosophies and styles. We would have loved to spend a night in each suite however as that was not practical we chose the Archangel suite as it seemed to be the most cohesive gothic revival style.
When we walked through the door we were overwhelmed with the feel of the space. It seemed reverend and mystical but most of all it was awe inspiring. The scale was perfect with the pointed arches and the height of the ceilings. The hand basin and the bath especially are works of art as they were carved out of a solid slab of marble. The traditional gold gilt gothic wall lights, chandelier, sanctuary lamp and candelabras that were dotted around the suite gave a touch of elegance and refinement to the rooms lined with course marble blocks. The royal blue velvet drapes added a softness and welcome warmth to the hard, cold sharpness of the stone walls. It was a pleasure just sitting in front of the fireplace, taking in the surroundings and if we could have stayed longer we would have just stayed in the suite but there was much more to explore.
The dining room with the carved stone arches was the most exquisite room to eat in, however when we were shown to the underground pool which was like a palace carved into a cave, our jaws dropped.
The juxtaposition of the rough hewn cave walls with detailed pillars, chandeliers and giant cupids coming off the wall holding lit sconces was just sensational. Being in the pool was like swimming in palace that had sunk into the subterranean waters of a cave after an earthquake had opened up the ground.
Beyond this description it's hard to convey the emotive response to this incredible architecture that was built from the rubble that used to be an old Greek mansion. The family that lived there at the time was forcibly expelled from their ancestral property during the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923. Kudos to Turan for the incredible showpiece that he has created from the remnants that remained of that family home.

beautiful place

we stayed here as a couple in their standard room. staff is very hepful and always kind. our room was big but had only one window. the bathroom was nice. room gets very hot and there is no built in or remote a/c which is a big problem for us. shared areas are gorgeous and architecture is beautiful one an only kind i have seen. rooms are different but if you pay more there are beautiful rooms. it is upsetting that this much price difference can change rooms so much. like i said no a/c and no tv in the rooms.
breakfast is good i wish they used organic products. dinner is ok.
the hotel arranged pick up from airport and tours for all days. they were very good. we took private tour for everything.
overall it is a good hotel. concept is great.

Fantasy made a Reality

This hotel is phenomenal! Over the top in every way and it all works beautifully. The staff is wonderful, caring, helpful, nothing is too much to ask. The reservation process went smoothly, emails were answered immediately, all requests were met, they use only the best tour guides, hot air balloon pilots, and drivers. The food prepared in the restaurant was wonderful and the service perfect. Breakfast was great and served whenever you wished---a plus for me on vacation. The rooms are a wonder. A local told me it really is a Sacred House because it was done with love and he is absolutely correct! I can't wait to return and the next time, I will stay longer. Treat yourself to a stay in the Sacred House.
