Pleasant staff and nice sized rooms

I found the staff very helpful. Not everyone's English was great but we managed to communicate just fine. I found their breakfast to be very good (12 euros). Sort of standard from what I've seen in Belgium, and they will cook you some eggs fresh if you want. The location is good. 10 min walk to the grand place. It's across the town from the train station so closer to a 30 min walk. I paid the 10 euros for parking in their small private parking lot behind the hotel, but if you can find parking around there, it is free. The room size was good. And the bathroom was large. Looks like it was newly done not too long ago. Overall very good place and I'd go back.

Friendly boutique hotel

I stayed here on business for a month and the staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome. My room was in the annex to the main hotel; clean, practical and well presented. They serve breakfast in the small but well equipped breakfast room. Great choice of pastries and healthy food as well as eggs and bacon; they also provide freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel is perfectly located for walking into Mons town centre.

Hotel is refurbished to a very high standard, except no air con. The staff are lovely, helpful and speak good English. Free WiFi. Roughly 15 mins walk to centre of Mons and staff provide a map. Did not book breakfast. Plenty of parking on street outside. Has a lift.

I spent 10 days in the St. James hotel as I was visiting Mons for work reasons, and by the end it felt quite like home. The room was fine, modern style (boutique) and very clean. My only complaint is that it was a little hot at night as there is no a/c but the fan that was provided helped a little. What really stood out for me was the friendly staff, from the cleaners to the reception staff, all were very professional and could not have done more to help me throughout. Henri, in particular was extremely kind! Breakfast every morning was excellent, plenty of choice and the freshly squeezed orange juice was always a pleasant treat. The proximity of the hotel to la grand place meant there were plenty of restaurants to try in the evenings. Thanks to the the team at St,james for making me feel so at home!

Small but Quiet

We stayed in the new part. Our room opened to the garden, so to speak. The new section was clean, very QUIET, but the room was tiny and only had space for a "double bed". Although we slept quite well in a double as newly weds 38 years ago, we are now used to a king size so I did not sleep as well and in the morning my back was sore, but not that the bed itself was bad. Breakfast was usual. Staff was helpful. It is nothing special, but adequate for travelers like us who don't always plan ahead and don't always expect 4 star but expect clean, smoke free, and safe. Parking was free on the street. Town was fun.
