Clean/Convenient/Rude Breakfast Lady
Julie Oon 26/08/2017 05:03I travel a lot. I feel the price was high, but appropriate for the location and cleanliness which were both very good. The rooms were spacious. I was in a family suite & while I was happy with the layout, I was not happy that there was only 1 tv (located in the room with the kids' bed). There should have been a tv in both rooms of the family suite. Regardless, I never had a complaint until going down to breakfast. The woman who runs the breakfast is truly a liability - butting in CONSTANTLY to family's conversations and rude to boot. This happened on both mornings of my stay. If the hotel cares to be considered a premiere place to stay in the city, place this woman away from people. I was not surprised to read other reviews about this exact same woman. Incidentally, I didn't have any issues with the internet as others seem to have had.
awesome stay
ravensmoonlite2002on 24/08/2017 14:43This is our 4th year staying at the Salem Inn. They have 3 buildings. Three years we stayed in the Peabody House. This year we stayed in the main building, the West House. The staff is amazing. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. They have a free breakfast each morning that is not to be missed. We love it there. Also, within steps of walking to downtown.
Charming & Convenient with a Very Helpful Staff
DanB1957on 23/08/2017 21:04It was a busy weekend in Salem, so Salem Inn was one of the few choices we had. It turned out to be a very nice stay. Clean. Charming. A very helpful and attentive staff. Evening wine and cheese was a nice surprise. Breakfast was much better than expected. Parking was included. Would stay there again.
Be Sure This is What You Want
Larry Con 19/08/2017 12:33I went to this hotel recently with my wife and as a person who travels a lot, there are several thing that stand out about this Inn.
On the positive:
[1] Great location - close to everything
[2] They try
[3] Historic
To Improve:
[1] The place is tired, run down and worse of all many areas (esp. the public areas) dirty. Rugs/floors are gross
[2] Wifi is essentially unusable, speeds of 300kb (about dial up) - no Netflix for you !
[3] Afternoon wine and morning breakfast are nothing special for $250/night+
[4] Staff service is spotty - Johnny at the front desk was great, but another front desk staff person actually took two calls during my brief exchange while I was talking to her - I (a real in-person customer) was there first, but apparently not important - why wasn't the caller wasn't asked to hold? Another unusual exchange at wine. In short, the staff needs some customer service training, nice staff, nice people - just a bit rough in their presentation
I don't think I will go here again as there are many nearby options
Salem
Karen Gon 19/08/2017 12:08The Salem Inn is within walking distance to restaurants, pubs and tourist attractions. Complementary breakfast is included. Wine and cheese were also complementary. The room was comfy.
My only complaint was the wifi. The staff was helpful in trying to resolve the issue but to no avail.
Also, be advised, if you're in a front room overlooking Summer St, it may be noisy with traffic.
