I stayed at this Hotel
Thursday, June the 27th
I was visiting Mexico and wanted a Hotel close to the border so when I came back I can rest before my trip home.

Now, I pulled up to the hotel I was told to park to the right in the parking structure.
So I got off went to check in at the Hotel.

I walked up to the lady to check in told her I had a reservation. She said I need your ID and bank card. No friendly smile no How's your day. Just like she was annoyed. I've stayed at lower level hotels and had better service then this "higher end".

So she tells me did you park on the property? I replied yes, But is there parking..... then she cut me off and said your parking has been added to your bill.

Then a room fee of $50 and mumbled some stuff really fast then slid my card. Like OMG! Are you being serious?

Usually they say is that okay? I'm going to charge your card like she slid my card without my acknowledgement of the total being charged.

So i booked the hotel with a Pool. The pool was closed and I was told due to a child had left "droppings" in the pool.

So after I left I called my booking agency and let them know of my visit they contacted the Hotel. Who then stated "the hotel pool was always open during my visit that it was untrue" omg. Are they being serious!
What a joke of a hotel to accuse me of lying. There was ONE worker I came across and was VERY VERY great they should really promote her and have her train the other workers.

Her name was "Nedra" I spoke with her briefly but she made me feel like family. Asked me about my trip and how was my day and most importantly how my hotel visit was. I spoke with her when I called the front desk to speak to a manager who unfortunately was not there during my visit.

But over-all I would NOT recommend this place to other travelers. I would not stay there next time. I'd rather risk my time and get a hotel in Tijuana,MX

Dining with 400 friends in an 85-degree banquet room

TravSDon 28/06/2017 23:53

I recently attended an event held at the San Diego Marriott La Jolla, about 400 for dinner in one of their ballrooms. It was roasting - men were taking their suit jackets off, women were fanning themselves, all the while dining on a $40 rubber chicken. We begged the service staff to turn up the air conditioning, they only told us it was turned on as high as it would go. A server who leaned over me to fill my water glass, and before I could react, a ball of sweat rolled off the tip of his nose right onto my dinner plate. How charming. I'm sorry, if I was dining at the Best Western or Quality Inn, I could almost expect this kind of atmosphere, but MARRIOTT???? If this is how they put their "best" foot forward to treating customers, then I'm assuming their rooms can't be any better. Thanks for a very uncomfortable and very untasty $40 dinner!

Nice place. Near the university.

Nice place, but away from much of the real La Jolla. Nice to be a member of Marriott as we got breakfast for free and cocktails and desert after 5. Nice clean room with a view, albeit small. Great employees!! One guy kinda smarmy at the bar, but overall, we were there for 4-5 days and nice people. Actually the gal at the front desk alerted me to my rewards benefit that I was totally clueless of. We were also there during my wife's birthday and they sent an awesome tray of items! Not cheap stuff at all btw!
Thanks

Major construction next door Very Noisy

on 25/06/2017 02:41

The hotel may be nice the rest of the year, but currently there is major construction several city blocks in size adjacent to the hotel. This makes for a lot of noise early in the morning, and even high pitched pulsating noise from the machinery through the night. The "sky walk" connecting to the mall advertised on the website is closed due to the construction, and the mall it connects to is walking distance but also under major construction.
Buyer Beware, you may suffer the small "inconvenience" of staying awake all night for the invasive noise.
Other then that temporary issue, the place is clean, the food is very good, and the staff are professional and friendly.

Comfortable stay. Good service

We stayed for one night over Memorial Day weekend. We are gold level members at Marriott. The hotel was sold out so we did not receive an upgrade. I requested a feather free room but it was not ready when we checked in.
The front desk staff member apologized and asked what she could do. I told if they could get me feather free pillows I would be just fine. Within 5 minutes of getting to our room the pillows were delivered.
We went out to dinner when we came back they had put a rollaway bed in the room to accommodate our 2nd daughter. We hadn't asked for one, but it was greatly appreciated.
The beds themselves were comfortable with good linens.
The lounge for breakfast was good. There was a variety of items to choose from.
We didn't use the pool or gym. The bar area looked nice but we didn't have time to visit.
