Motel is dated but very clean and quiet. I stay for 5 days and will stay again soon. Very inexpensive motel and does offer mini frig and microwave. The owner and staff are very friendly. Parking is right at your door which was great for me since I have physical limitations. I stayed in room 23 and was very pleased.

Recently stayed overnight at the Hopwood Motel. Good value for the price. Very clean and neat, with brand new sheets. Had a great nights rest.Everything worked well. Off beat location.Served it's purpose, for brief get away trip.
Adequate

I stayed at the Hopwood Motel quite a few months ago and am just getting around to writing my review. It is adequate, nothing more, nothing less. Cheap, pretty clean and on the highway. The best thing was the pizza recommendation (they delivered). Ice was rationed, which was a problem for me because I like ice in my drinks.
I agree with one other reviewer, the A/C had a bit of a smell. The rooms are small, but for one person it was fine. The bathroom was small, period. Mine wasn't as moldy as another reviewer. My bed linens didn't have any holes in them, either.
I was in the last unit to the left (farthest from the office) and the wi-fi kept cutting out every few minutes. I wasn't doing anything important, just e-mails and planning the next part of my trip so it wasn't critical, just frustrating.
Like I said, the pizza was the high-light of my stay, I wish I could remember the name, they'd get a great review. There was a flier in the office, so if they are still in business, get one delivered to your room. I got a small with all meat and it came quickly and was still hot. I was surprised how cheap it was, I think I got away with $15 including delivery and tip and I am a decent tipper.
I did very much enjoy sitting in one of the Adirondack chairs out front with a Scotch in my hand watching the few cars drive through on old-40. Hopwood has suffered from the by=pass as has most of Uniontown, a shadow of its former self.
Moldy Motel

I'm afraid I had higher hopes for the Hopwood Motel. It looks decent in photos that I've seen, and the reviews aren't too bad. I'd hoped for nostalgic and retro, but unfortunately, found old and funky instead. I don't set the bar very high when traveling, but I expect cleanliness and some degree of comfort. Upon entering the room we were met with a sharp musty smell and a strong dose of disinfectant. The room did not seem to be dirty, but the stall shower was very moldy and the outdated bathroom was in some disrepair with loose electrical fixtures and falling-away tile. The old tiled stall shower had been lined with ill-fitting fiberglass panels to cover them up, and one can only imagine what might be growing behind the cover-up. The poor old sway-backed bed was way overdue for replacement and it was like sleeping in a hole. The bedding was clean, but there were two big holes in the blanket. We very much want to support mom and pop businesses such as this, but it's hard to justify when you come across an establishment like this. I hate to say it, but the next night we stayed in a chain hotel for about $14 less, and the firm bed and clean, intact bathroom were very welcome. A motel can date from the 1950s and still be well-maintained and comfortable. The Hopwood Motel has the potential but needs a whole lot of work.
Basic but adequate for our purposes

This property was the only family-run hotel that we stayed at on a two-week cross-country trip, and we were satisfied with the value for the price. The bathroom was very small and room a bit dark, with the decor rather outdated (and the tv remote seemed not to work and tv to offer few channels). But for the value (we paid $60/night) we made do with the somewhat tight space and limited furnishings, appreciated the fridge and microwave, and found the staff very friendly and helpful. We were visiting the area to tour the Frank Lloyd Wright houses and under different circumstances might have preferred lodging closer in and with more amenities, but since we knew we'd arrive late after a long day's drive and had many more hotel nights elsewhere ahead of us en route to Florida and back, we were glad we chose the Hopwood on this occasion.
