What People are saying

Better than ever expected

Mike Mon 07/08/2017 13:55

This place is fantastic and far exceeded my expectations. The villas have been redone beautifully. There are large front decks and nice clean splinter free tile flooring. The bathrooms are simple but nice, clean and spacious. To my surprise the power was kept running all day long. They provide two powerful auxiliary fans which keep the rooms nice and comfortable even on 30 degree days. Eliasa? Was wonderful throughout the whole visit helping us get settled in and answering any of our questions or concerns with a smile. Laundry service was nice and affordable at 150php per kg. The food was absolutely fantastic and way over the top. They either really upped their game recently or these negative reviews about the food are just from people with an ax to grind. Lack of air conditioning and hot water was a non issue and mosquitoes were not bad. I got bit twice in 4 days without any bug repellent. Brian the bartender was fantastic as was the female bartender(Jen?). The woman running the rental and souvenir shop was very nice and accommodating as well. Surprisingly, Drinks at the bar were very affordable- similar to coron town prices. The beach was absolutely beautiful. The sand is as fine as powdered sugar and it is swept daily by employees for garbage and driftwood. The snorkeling right off the beach isn't fantastic but certainly worth putzing around when you have some time to kill. You can see a few corals, anemones, clownfish, coral banded butterfly fish, small reef angel fish, lunar wrasses, and other various small reef fish. Although their island hopping trips are a little more expensive than coron town(exclusive island duh!), the staff is very accommodating and not looking to wring everyone dry of their money. They offer to split the cost in half for a half day or they will arrange with other people interested in the trip to split the bill with you. We will certainly be back next year for an even longer visit.

First-rate secluded resort

This resort has a family-run feel. We stayed 5 days at the season's tail end - when we left, there was only another hut occupied.
The good stuff: communication in advance was outstanding. Commute from Coron to the resort and back was included in the daily rate and was a breeze (car from the airport to the town, then speedboat to the island). The huts were recently remodeled. The food is homestyle - simple but uniformly fresh and good. Laundry is billed by weight so it's very cheap. The one-on-one intro and follow-up scuba diving sessions with Will were very enjoyable and memorable. I loved the cocktails and bar music selection, the easygoing feel of family-run place with few rules other than a set eating schedule (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, buffer, always at the same time every day).
The snorkeling in the resort's front is good enough. Of note: we saw a creepy jawfish that will continue to haunt our nights for a while. Our 9-year old loved the Coron island tour that we booked, especially the tour guide Ray. Our fast ferry to El Nido was cancelled so we stayed an extra night. The resort was very accommodating and did not bill us the resulting back-and-forth to Busuanga.
The not so good stuff: no A/C in the huts means lots of mosquito bites early in the rainy season, despite several layers of mosquito nets. The resort was building up during our stay, with workers sometimes idling by our hammocks. Customers studiously ignore each other, all from either Europe or other Asian countries. Almost all of them smoked, which really sucked for us. The food is typically gone within 20 minutes so we have to be exactly on time for each meal. Finally, the snorkeling was much better in El Nido although the scuba diving was great.
In summary, we'd give 9 out of 10 due to the discomfort (mosquitos and smoking) and the construction & construction workers.
Would come back without reserve.

Paradise!!!

This is a beautiful, small resort on a secluded island. After arriving at Busuanga Airport, you are transported to a boat which takes you the last 20 minutes to Sangat Island. The accommodations are huts on stilts and are eco-friendly....and on the beach!

I came here to get my open water dive license and the staff were very friendly and professional. There are amazing reefs around the island and also 11 World War 2 wrecks. It was an incredible experience and the instruction was exceptional - thank you, Will!

There are 3 meals and other snacks a day, with a good variety of meat, fish and fruit. There are also 2 bars, with the one on the small island with a walkway across a perfect place to have drinks before dinner.

I cannot say enough to recommend Sangat Island and hope to be able to make it back there soon!

I don't even know where to start, everything about this place was exactly what we wanted/needed. This was our final stop after a week of crazy travel all over the country and we were looking forward to a relaxing stay, beach, great food and some scuba diving. We checked all these boxes at this amazing resort.

Right from booking they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. They were willing to help booking, flights, hotels and arranged all on our transport on the island. We booked our own flights but were happy to take their help getting to the resort. Once we arrived at Busanaga airport, there were a bunch of resorts stands outside the terminal but their's was easy to find. Once we spotted them, they took us straight to the van and we were off. It was about a 30 minute drive through some windy roads and then we ended up at a little dock. There was a small boat waiting for us, we loaded our bags and we were off. We had about a 20 minute boat ride out to the island and the boat ride out was beautiful. We were surrounded by beautiful green hills and what seemed like endless islands.

We arrived at the island and were greeted warmly by the staff. They showed us around, where the dive shop was, where we would eat and other things we would need to know. We booked the Lambingan Villa (room with a private beach) and were walked out to the room. WOW! The beach was great and all ours! The villa was just like in the pictures on their site. It was 3 stories, 2 bathrooms and 3 beds. It was just my wife and I but having all the extra space was so nice.

One of the biggest draws to this place for us was the ability to scuba dive easily. We are both advanced divers and wanted to explore all the wrecks and coral around the island. Luke and his dive crew were incredible. They made great recommendations for dives and were very enjoyable to dive with. You could easily tell they loved what they were doing and were very passionate about it. This dive shop was by far one of our favorites!

The food at the resort was really great as well. There were scheduled times for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner but the variety and tastes were great. My wife really wanted a lot of vegetables and I was open to anything and we both got what we wanted. Neither of us ever went back to our room hungry after a meal.

I could could go on about this resort and the employees, everything was great and by the time we were leaving we were already planning on how/when we could come back. We were here for 6 days and it still wasn't enough! We're going back soon.
