What People are saying

A value find!

lena975on 06/11/2016 12:25

A superbly located b&b with great service! Even though we arrived in the late evening, check in was efficient and handled with a personal touch. Julia, who handled our check in, gave brilliant tips on where to see and what to do!

Our room was very comfortable and had all the required items (toiletries, hot water, heating)... importantly, even though the b&b is at the city centre, it was located in a quiet street which allowed us to sleep with the windows partially open.

I would return to stay here!

Great location in Orvieto

Very clean and quiet at night, excellent breakfast and morning host. The lodging went way out of their way to help us when we got on the wrong train and ended up getting in around midnight. They stayed around and made sure we got a room. By the way, if you are staying here, or anywhere else for that matter, realize that the rooms are not always soundproof to the dining room. Trying to eat breakfast while a couple are, lets say being playful and noisy, can be somewhat distracting. And that poor hostess....

THE Best B&B

Finally, after six years, I enjoyed the opportunity to once again stay at Giulia's B&B. For so many reasons, this is a superlative place to kick off your shoes after a day of sightseeing and simply relax.

This is a medieval building that has been lovingly recreated to meet the standards of the modern traveler and yet retain the beauty of the old. Old brickwork given new life---and a Juliet balcony in a room with a great shower.

Because this is Giulia's hometown, and because she is quite active in local civic and business organizations, she knows her way around and can steer you in the right direction. Whether you're looking for a great restaurant or someone to ship things home at reasonable cost, Giulia will be happy to escort you to the establishment and help you get the best at the best price. ( I know, because six years ago she helped me ship some purchases.)

As the attached photos demonstrate, her great care in selecting all of the right fixtures and furnishings is evident. Six years later, nothing appears worn---but there is evidence of a beautiful patina.

Perfect B&B for exploring Orvieto

My mother and I booked 2 rooms for our overnight in Orvieto and had a wonderful short stay.

Mom had a room on the 2nd floor and I had one on the top floor. Both rooms were quite nice, though the top floor one was a bit bigger and had a view over the rooftops. Bathrooms are spotless and large by European standards.

A few reviewers complained about the lack of "charm" in the rooms. I have no clue what they were looking for in "charm". Both rooms were nicely furnished with quality (and some antique) furnishings. Mostly I found the decor to be quaint and functional. The bed was one of the more comfortable ones I have slept on in in my 3 weeks in Italy!

Our reception and departure was friendly and all our questions were answered. After checking in, Mom and I had the hotel to ourselves. (if you are looking for a place with a concierge or a front desk at your service, look elsewhere). In contrast to other reviewers, our keys worked fine and we had no problems getting in or out of the building. We did not try the wireless at all, so I can't vouch for that.

The location was convenient to both bus and sights without being in the middle of it all. This B&B is on a very quiet twisting lane a few streets away from the giant Duomo. I was glad we were not staying near the main square--lots of people and noise til late near the Duomo.

Breakfast was...meh. Our hard boiled eggs were cold and so was the coffee (despite being poured from the pot by the hostess). This is also the first hotel I have seen that did not have a cappucino machine...and it showed. Coffee was awful and the first thing we did when we left for our day of seeing Orvieto was to get some decent coffee. I don't expect a lot for breakfast, but this was pretty underwhelming.

Despite that, I would stay here again. The location, the rooms, and the comfy beds made up for the lackluster breakfast. Without a nicer breakfast and an on-site staff, I hesitate to agree this is a B&B. This seems more like a shared Air B&B, being that you are pretty much on your own once you check in. If you are okay with that--and we were--you should find B&B Sant'Angelo a perfectly fine place to lay your head for a night or two in Orvieto.

Delightful place in the heart of Orvieto

We stayed at the B&B Sant 'Angelo for 5 nights and what a great place it is! Our room, the suite was very large, comfortable and quiet, with two balconies looking out over the roof tops. Breakfast, which included cereal, croissant, eggs, fruit and toast was served from 8.45 to 10 o'clock in an atmospheric room where you could see ancient stairs, originally part of Orvieto underground. Giulia, the owner, is very kind and welcoming and able to help with restaurant bookings and advice; nothing was too much trouble for her! Having a key to the front door meant we were able to come and go as we pleased and it really felt like we were residents, not just tourists!
The B & B Sant'Angelo is very close to great restaurants, especially I Sette Consoli, which is a two minute walk and very convenient for the main sights of Orvieto.
Whilst there is no parking at the B & B there is a car park about a 5 minute walk away, so that you can drop off your luggage easily; we then parked at a secure covered car park on the edge of town which is still only approximately ten minutes away on foot.
We will be back!
