Goodness of staff could not make for the stench in the room
kris1177on 04/08/2012 12:44On a business trip, i stayed here the ac in the room was not effective. but thanks to the good climate of coimbatore on a 3rd floor room the staff opened balcony window and i could get cool breeze and room became 'barely sleepable'. The rooms stink because of old mattress and furniture. Tellivision sets in the room are from previous century with old cable connections offerring only few south indian channels with poor transmission quality. Rooms are extremely spacious though, because of this being an old hotel but all i can still remember is the terrible smell. I reached at 10.10 for breakfast but was returned hungry as they strictly operate breakfast till 10 am. Over all good intentioned staff could not make up for the depression causing stinking rooms .
Value for the money and staff friendly
BaskaranThirupuron 19/03/2012 13:22The location of the hotel is excellent. Rooms are nice but House keeping need a improvement a lot , staff friendly. The hotel runs a restaurant for house guest alone due to construction . T, Overall the hotel, accommodation, and staff are good, but the Housekeeping may be a pain! The food is also up to the standards expected from a hotel of this quality. I would recommend it to anybody who is able to afford the rates. Its a good option and has a great location in the center of the city.
Old wine in old bottel !!!
deepak pon 19/03/2012 12:05Last week I stayed over there We were all very impressed(20yrs old property!!) with the cleanliness and the room layouts. Wish they had better mattresses though. It might be time for an update. We saw the staff continually cleaning every surface throughout the day as the construction was on! . We ate at the Puduvayal resturant. We weren't impressed with the burgers, but the Chinese , American coppice was worth the stop. So was the crab cake sandwich . Service= warmness in every touch. We also ate for breakfast and the food was fine. The Kings smelled old wooden yak and looked spotless with wonderful staff . That was wonderful! We will definitely be back. The rooms were also pretty inexpensive at center of the city ."WORTH FOR THE MONEY"
FOR TripAdvisor: the address of the hotel is :739A, Avinashi,Road Coimbatore-640018,tamilnadu,India.(I had a pretty difficulty in finding the hotel)

“I wish I stayed elsewhere”
radjaffon 06/10/2011 03:50(I previously posted the review in Sabari's Nest Hotel because I cannot find Sathyam Grand in TA hotel list)
This hotel changed name several times. At first it was Nilgiri's Nest, and then Sabari's Nest, and now Sathyam Grand Hotel.
Staying in this hotel was not a good experience at all. Everything in this hotel is old - the only new thing is the hotel's signpost (and the hotel name). The furniture was dated and the closet smells bad. I wouldn't even put dirty laundry in the closet. The bed was not comfortable, I woke up in the morning to find that some bed bug bite me. Bottled water was not provided unless asked - and they charged for it.
They only served Indian food for breakfast, don't expect to find simple western breakfast such as bread or omelet. The restaurant was empty most of the time. There was one occasion where we went in for dinner and no waiter was around.
