What People are saying

Rude and overcharged

chris2017johnsonon 17/06/2017 02:56

Would never recommend this hotel to nobody. The staff is very rude, the man at the front desk doesnt seem to care about the guest, just wants your money. I was by myself and without asking me he automatically charged for two people and didnt fix the problem when asked which i paid to much. Also, Police walks around the hotel makes you feel like you are in the hood. KEEP DRIVING

After staying several months thrown out without refund

Although this is not the ideal place that you would want to live I was faced with an unfortunate situation in late August that lead me to have to seek lodging at motel 6 in mid September. When I first got there it was a great place rooms were remodeled and the place had been cleaned up there was a no nonsense manager named Leslie who was wonderful very polite and accommodating she tried very hard to get rid of the mess around the hotel and done a great job of doing so but then in early October another manager came along named Stephanie who is a former police officer and everything started to go down hill. She was very hateful and rude with a nasty disposition about her. She walked around the hotel pretending to be the police carrying guns and kicking out people who had been there long term for bogus reasons I seen several people have to leave and it was very unfortunate because she was very sneaky about how she did it she would make her decision and then when you went to renew your room they would tell you she decided not to rent to you any longer. People would be sitting there with minutes to find other lodging some with dogs and some even with kids she has absolutely no compassion for anyone. However I continued to stay because I did not bother anyone minded my own business and had never dealt with the manager in any kind of way so I thought as long as I wasn't causing problems I would be ok. Boy was I wrong. I started to have people Leslie first come to my room to do room inspection stating that Stephanie said my room smelled but after inspection no complaints then second on Christmas Eve the regional manager came for inspection because of the same reason and also had no complaints but then it was obvious that Stephanie was looking for a reason to get rid of me. Since there were no other reasons only days after Christmas she started saying that over a month before there had been issues with my dogs even went as far as lying on the police to make it seem really bad when she was confronted about the situation she screamed at my husband and was very rude telling him to leave the office and that we would no longer be able to renew our room the following week. After spending over 3000 dollars at this hotel this is how we were treated. The following day after calling corporate to complain about her behavior she showed up at our door with police to tell us to leave by midnight and lying on the corporate office stating that they did not run anything this was her hotel and she was in charge and refusing to refund any money for days not stayed even after being advised by corporate to do so claiming damages to the room. She was very irate when asking us to leave even in front of the police. My husband and I started packing our things and preparing to leave and a few hours later a knock on the door seven police officers asking us to leave then there had been no problems at the hotel between this time and the first visit by police but they informed us that she had changed her mind and wanted us to leave earlier at this point I felt like I was being harassed it was an absolute terrible experience and no way that a guest should be treated. I regret ever spending my money there. As far as the rooms they were nice but there were some issues with house keeping the rooms were not kept up to par house keeping half cleaned rooms and there were bugs toward the end of my stay the place was alot better with Leslie in charge of things. This place could be so much better if Stephanie were not the manager she does not have good people skills and is just not equip to work in customer service position. Most of the other staff were very nice and helpful but you know what they say one bad apple can spoil the bunch which is definately the case here at motel 6 I would advise seeking a place to stay even for the night elsewhere if you are in the area. Even the sunset inn up the road would be a better option at least you would be treated with respect.

Worst Hotel, Period.

This is the worst hotel I have ever been to. My husband, my two large dogs, and I had to evacuate our coastal town due to Hurricane Matthew. I booked this hotel and received confirmation. We showed up on Wednesday, no room. My family and I had to sleep in our truck that night, as nothing was available. We were promised it would be ready at noon on Thursday...of course it wasn't. Showed up, promised it would be ready by 1pm. Showed up at 1pm, promised it would be ready by 3pm. Showed up at 3pm, promised it would be ready by 6pm. Meanwhile, the smoke alarms were going off, blaring, due to some malfunction. The staff was rude, unaccommodating, and you could tell they hated their jobs. Finally, I told them to refund my money and we had to travel across the state where we were able to find shelter for the duration of the hurricane. No apology, nothing. I tried to be understanding because I'm sure they were busy, but this was inexcusable. I had a friend who also evacuated, who managed to get a room, she said it was disgusting. They had to go buy sheets and blankets to avoid sleeping in the disgusting bed. Sadly, I was probably better off sleeping with my husband and two 70lbs dogs in our truck.

Horrible place, better to get a tent and sleep in boneyard up the street

dominus69on 15/10/2016 22:20

We had to stay here due to fleeing Hurricane Matthew as it was about the only place available that would take pets. Let me start on a few positive notes. Most of the ladies at the front desk were great. Very friendly and helpful (I almost gave rated this place "poor" instead of "terrible" because of them). The sheets and pillow cases appeared to be clean. There were no bedbugs, perhaps the roaches ate them. There was a little kitchenette in the room, though we did not use it.

Now on to the rest. The room stank of mildew, and everything inside was filthy. The furniture, the little table, the bathroom; all disgusting. If you shined a black light in this room I have no doubt it would look like a forensic nightmare. I was working on my laptop at the little table and made the mistake of resting my forearm on it. My skin came up literally black with dirt. Black mold in the shower - not just the grout but the ceiling. Somebody attempted to fix the leaking shower head with an old web belt or something. The shower curtain doesn't even cover the whole shower entrance - its like a loincloth, and the towels are worn and rough. The toilet paper is HORRENDOUS - it is like using 80 grit sandpaper or a wood rasp. Cockroaches everywhere - whole room completely infested with them.

Though not in a bad area (I grew up in Greenville), this place attracts some "interesting" people. Even the desk clerk rolled her eyes at mentioning "locals" that stay there. Our first night we were treated to the spectacle of a barefooted man - incredibly drunk, stoned, or with a severe mental imbalance - gleefully and randomly pulling a soaking wet cardboard box of garbage all over the parking lot. Any given night shady people are hanging out in the shadows of dumpsters, hallways and at various points around the motel. Another night there was an altercation in a room on the first floor that sounded violent, with impacts that sounded like someone's head was being put through a wall, and the clerk at the desk didn't seem to much care because one of the people was "her friend". I actually carried a pistol walking the dogs at night there were so many scummy looking people around.

The motel is right next to a fire station so forget getting any sleep, sirens going off at all hours. I guess this could be reassuring in case the place bursts into flames, but on second thought it would probably be best if it was just allowed to burn to the ground. Occasionally you will instead be awakened by profanity from one of the drunken guests - at least there is variety, I suppose. Forget sleeping in, too - they are remodelling the rooms (about time!) and appear to be doing 100% of the work with huge hammers. By 8 a.m. they were beating on things so hard some of the mold was even falling off the ceiling. Guess they don't realize a particleboard counter can be very easily and quietly just be pried off.

I obviously didn't expect the place to be the Waldorf-Astoria, but even for a Motel 6 this place is a whole different level of disgusting. Stay somewhere else.

Infested!

Myself, my husband and our three children ages 7, 4, & 3 had to stay the night here at Motel 6 in Greenville, SC. This was one of the worst nights ever. Not only was our room nasty, with evidence everywhere that it has not been throughtly cleaned ever. Our 4 year old daughter, 3 year old son and myself were up ALL night because of roach bugs everywhere!!! I almost turned my soda drink up with one on the lid!!! Our poor babies were terrified all night that the bugs were going to crawl on them. We have unfortunately just been evicted from our home however we will NEVER stay here again!!
