What People are saying

Saxonia Guest house

My room was clean but not spotless, although probably last decorated in 1980. It also contained everything I needed; a toilet, shower, basin bed and lights but there was barely space for my suitcase. The shower was a foot away from the end of my bed and I had to close the blinds to use it in order to avoid giving the street outside a shock. The shower was barely big enough to get into and was not comfortable to use, the same could be said of the toilet that was in a cupboard. Although on the top floor, I was above the front door and each time the doorbell rang, it sounded like it was ringing in the room and it could be noisy with people going in and out. There was no sign of the famous Jon and Sandie for my entire stay. There seemed to be only one member of staff - she may have been fairly new- and seemed too busy to be polite, mostly harassed but I think she tried her best. She seemed to be there all day everyday. Each morning of my stay breakfast was like an episode from Fawlty Towers. The staff member could only manage to cook one breakfast at a time, although ordered in advance she struggled to get the orders right and we were all still sitting there long after 9.30 when breakfast was due to end, and some were still waiting to be served. When the food arrived it was usually cold. they really need to ditch the horrible gray napkins that no none wanted to touch and were the casue of a few jokes. The wifi mostly worked but not always. I could not have the windows open at night with the blinds down as the breeze made them bang noisily against the window frame. The guest house is on a busy crossroads and if you stay here you must expect to put up with the noise. It is a short walk to the town and station, the sea front is about 15 minutes walk away.

3 star Really !

We have just returned Home after staying at the Saxonia Guest House ,for 2 nights ,which is probably the worst B+B /guest house I think I have ever stayed in !
we booked a double room ,with en suite , so ok ,it turned out to be a twin! not really a hardship for 2 nights, the shower was a glass box in the corner of the room next to the window and less then 3ft from the end of one of the Beds ,bathroom cabinet in the room over the sink , was so high on the wall ,I could no see to brush my hair ,or clean my teeth, the wardrobe was wobbly and not in very good condition when empty ,when we put are things in it , it wobbled even more and the door didn't close! ad to that the safe hanging over the lower part of the 2nd bed ,which was also a bit loose ! The door lock which was also lose and only just fixed to the door , and the loo which at best a re-cycled cupboard!!!!! the plumbing at best was noisy and basic .the food was not much better ,on the card it says "When in The West stay @ the Best " ! Do so at your on Risk!!!!!! I will never Stay there again ! It was Truly Terrible ! and very , very over priced !! .

Disappointed

Don't usually leave reviews but felt necessary this time. Arrived early and was told we couldn't get into room till 2 o'clock. Not a problem but wouldn't let us leave the bags either (dont think she could understand us). On returning at 2.30 were asked to pay upfront which i wasnt goin to do. Rooms are filthy smelly and very tired. Breakfast turned out to be very disappointing no organisation didnt get what we had requested and was equally dirty. left in disgust got in the car and got something on motorway. I have stayed in a lot of digs etc over the years with work and pleasure and this is by far one if the worst. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Old, tired and smelly

The entire place needs to be updated and a good clean!
The breakfast was cold and very overcooked!
Too far from the seafront and in a terrible, rough area of Weston.
Only stayed here as the Premier Inn was fully booked and all other decent hotels.
Really not worth the money we spent and the size of the family room was so small that once the travel cot was up you couldn't swing a cat!

Lovely stay

Stayed here on Friday over B.H weekend. Arrived at 11.15am and was greeted by a very friendly lady who arranged a swift early check in.

Room was lovely and had everything you would need for an overnight stay.

Parking available outside and also in small car park over road.

Located on the busy Locking road and 10 -15 mins walk to shops and pier so a pretty good spot.

Breakfast was served between 8.30am-9.30am and was good.

I would definitely recommend based on our stay and will be back in future.
