Perfect location close to city centre

Friendly staff and beautiful location by the lake. Free parking, excellent terrain for walks in the nearby parks and Pyynikki Ridge.
Not quite the expected Scandic level
Kristiina Aon 25/07/2017 08:36Scandic Rosendahl is a congress hotel a few kilometres from the centre of Tampere. The location is unbeatable by the lake Pyynikki and surrounding parks and forests. The hotel is also very convenient for a trip to the Särkänniemi amusement park - the city train leaves from the hotel and chuff-chuffs through the city to the park (mind you, the trip takes a whole hour and can be full if there are large groups).
I've stayed in several Scandic hotels in Tampere and elsewhere and have come to expect a certain quality from the chain.
This, however, was lacking in Rosendahl. The hotel and rooms are old-fashioned, partly even worn-out and need renovating and refreshing. The restaurant in particular is horrid - a huge hall with conference chairs and full of noise.
Somebody complained about the size of their bathroom, well, ours was huge! We stayed in a family room which was adequate for 2 adults and 2 teenagers.
A huge problem was the air-conditioning. Outside it was +20 degrees Celsius, inside +25 in the morning. It's impossible to adjust the air-conditioning - either it blasts full (noisily!) or else is totally dead. This meant a very uncomfortable night as the windows cannot be opened.
Other guests commented on the same problem during breakfast.
The service we had was delightful with good hints on our visit to Tampere.
An added bonus are the bicycles which guests can use for free for up to 4 hours.
All in all, I'd stay there again if I wanted to be near nature, but only if the hotel gets the air-conditioning working.
Lovely view but rooms not up to expectations
Jenni Von 23/07/2017 18:53Room was not clean and rather worn. Nice staff and lovely view from our room at the 4th floor. Breakfast ok, but the resturant is too small for so much people.
I will try another hotel if visiting the city again.
Tempting Tmpere
Annette Ron 21/07/2017 01:47Tampere was a fun and vibrant lake town we stopped in for one night on our way to the ferry at Turku. The markets were fun, the church interesting and the river walk refreshing. We at dinner along the river in the garden of a museum home.
The Scandic in this town is in a lovely location. The breakfast is wonderful and it is right o the lake. The rooms are definitely family oriented but neat and clean. The walk into town is wooded and beautiful.
