Gorgeous rooms and setting

We stayed here for a night in the Tower Room, what an amazing place. The tower room is in the old Schloss and is beautiful. The bathroom is modern and the decor fits the ambience of the location. The stairs up however were a bit precarious with a 4 month old child or I assume if you were a bit worse for wear. My parents-in-law stayed in the main house in a very modern restored room with a bedroom floating above the bathroom which had 2 side by side baths and a well! We had a breakfast by candlelight. Overall we had a lovely stay and i would thoroughly recommend it.

Exquisite!

I had promised my wife that on landing back in Germany just before midnight after four exciting days in Marrakesh and not wanting to drive home through the night, we would not experience an anticlimax so "splashed out" and stayed overnight at the Hotel Schloss Hertefeld. What a lucky choice! Our room was exquisite -- very tastefully furnished and the queen-sized, four poster bed was as comfortable as you could wish for. As we drove in, we were "greeted" by rabbits hopping around the grounds and the next morning there were ducks waddling around just outside our window. The perfect silence of the night was only broken by the sound of the church bells at seven in the morning. The candle-lit breakfast, served under the vaulted ceiling inside the mini castle, to the gentle strains of Bach was also perfect. Highly recommended!

A real gem - delightful, quirky and comfortable

Schloss Hertefeld is an amazing place to stay - quirky and captivating and thoroughly comfortable.

We learned that the Schloss itself was burned down in WW2 by the retreating Germans and has been partially restored so that it is surrounded by the remaining ruins in a way which is both romantic and wistful at the same time. At the top is the vast and stunning "Tower room suite" - with views over the drive, gardens and parkland. Wow!

The remaining rooms are in converted outbuildings nearby - each one with a different theme. We stayed in the East Asia suite - perfect for families, with a secret staircase up to a loft room where our three children slept. Couples might like to check out the "Star room" with a retractable glass ceiling over the bed for star gazing and twin baths. Or the secluded "Watch tower" apartment nestled peaceful in the grounds...

Our hosts were delightful, spoke excellent English and were knowledgeable about the history of the area and had lots of helpful advice to give. And breakfast was the best I've had for a long time! Our kids loved the petting zoo in the grounds too.

Really great stay - highly recommended.

You will not be disappointed

Fabulous find.Great price.First rate personal service.Amazing banquet breakfast at a time of our choosing with candles and music? Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms...we had the offer of choosing our own room. Good location suitable for getaway weekends with or without children and close to the village of Weeze and train station one hour from Düsseldorf.

Lovely old building, sympathetically restored

I stayed here on business for four nights, largely because of it's proximity to the Weeze airport and the fact that Dusseldorf was booked up because of the Medica expo.
My room was uperb, huge with an equally large bathroom. Some minor issues such as slow broadband which was quickly sorted out....freezing cold weather in November did not really do justice to the large gardens and grounds which are probably lovely in summer. Very civilised owners, would definitely stay here again, just not in winter!
