Lovely little find
dannyheath123on 23/07/2017 17:38Well what can I say... what a little gem! Ignore all the bad reviews on here this hotel is exactly what you want to feel the real Brig. If you want a Marriott style hotel stay elsewhere. This has character and charm and a beautiful view of the castle (ask in advance) see pics. the staff are amazing if we return we will book again. Old fashioned rooms but comes with kettle tea shower gel and shampoo on walls balcony and more.
worse hotel ever seen
Jeroen Von 18/06/2017 17:05Please dont go to this hotel. Its for 166 swiss Frank a big ripp off. Had a double room with a bed against the wall. it was more a 1 person room. just 1 chair on the balcony. shower was very poor. it looked more like a 1 star hostell. probably those are even better. It is swiss onwearthy. It even looks that the high rating on booking is bought with data! All the hotel in the neighberhood are better!
Good clean hotel
mppalmeron 31/12/2016 03:35We pre booked this hotel based on price and location, it's a 15min walk from the station however once you get here you realise that you can walk through the castle and the walk is about 8mins to the station.
It works on a self check in system we had no problems with the machine at the entrance which ace us our key. The room is standard size I wouldn't have minded a little more space however it was clean and generally quiet. We did not get a room with a balcony sadly.
The bathroom was clean as well, shower gel is via a dispenser bring your own moisturisers and shower cap as these items are not provided
We had no issues with wifi as it either fine, I believe the owner had increased the number of routers to improve the connections.
Breakfast was an additional 13 Francs per person and you submit your name on a list at reception (our booking was not inclusive of breakfast) we did not have breakfast so cannot comment on it.
The pillows are a little too soft for my liking and this made it hard to sleep, perhaps 2 pillows per person would have been better
The building is older so sound insulation is not as good as modern buildings this means you can hear the occasional noise from your neighbours
The owner comes for short while in the evenings, he was friendly and helpful and made some suggestions for places to eat etc.
Overall for a short stay this place is perfectly adequate.
Very pleasant hotel with a dodgy auto entry system !
rotiel321on 17/10/2016 14:44This is a very well located, comfortable family owned hotel - the staff are very friendly, but the problem is, that the reception is only manned for a limited time everyday.
Therefore, guests arriving had to book themselves in on a computerized key pad system next to the front entrance - easy enough if you are computer literate, but will cause problems if you are not - the two couples in front of us had a lot of problems, as the entry system would just not accept the visas cards with which they were trying to pay (in advance) for their rooms - they went off muttering ! Same thing happened with my visa card .... no go - put in a debit card and, bingo, my room key shot out of a slot and we were in !! Smashing room, spotlessly clean, nice view, but being Switzerland it was well expensive in my opinion ..... 191 Swiss francs for the night !!
A nice and quiet Hotel close to the Stockalperpalast
Panasonic99on 21/09/2016 13:08It was a good choose to stay in the Schlosshotel with friends of ours for three nights. From here we visited Zermatt-Gornergrat and Betten-Bettmerhorn-Aletsch. The service was OK. A very friendly staff. The reception was not manned 24 h a day. The rooms are cosy and clean. The facilities to heat water are available but without coffee and tea. The Hotel is in geographically in a good position. Every point in Brig is easy accessible by foot.
