What People are saying

5* restaurant, 5* spa, 4* hotel

in-situLondonon 10/07/2015 10:49

I would absolutely return to Weyberhofe. The restaurant is phenomenal. The Head Chef (Lou) comes out and asks you what you like and he cooks something for you. The quality is outstanding and the price/service ratio is amazing. The waiting staff are lovely (Thorsten in particular) are very professional and nice, just how it should be in a 5* establishment. Amazing indeed.
The spa is truly beautiful, just as depicted on their great website. It has top notch facilities, lovely staff and it is a true sensation.
The hotel part - the rooms are beautiful indeed and just as depicted on the internet. They let us do late check out and were very relaxed. There were a few things which lead me to believe that the hotel part was not quite 5* but it has to be said we were there in summer where the hotel was not really occupied: When we arrived we had to schlep our cases ages to the reception (no porter). We saw one woman struggling in the rain. It is about a 3 minute walk. When we got there we had requested a certain room twice to be told that we could not have it (there were only a handful of guests in the hotel but this particular room was taken even though I had requested it 2 months before). They had obviously not taken note. Then someone went to check the room and in her absence I asked for a tour (thinking that this could ensue when she was checking the room) but they did not take the bait. Then they showed us the room and we had to schlep heavy suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. She did not offer to help us. No porter in a 5 star hotel. The room which we chose was on the top floor and they did warn us that it was hot. They were right - chocolate had melted, the aircon barely worked and it was sweltering. They need to sort their aircon out urgently. Also, they charge for wifi and it is the cable variety. So the welcome was not as we had expected but the rest of the stay made up for it. Also, if you book a package and it says candlelight 4 course meal, please note that drinks are NOT included and they do not tell you this. We ordered 2 bottles of evian and this was 17 Euros!! We were not warned. This being said, I would not hesitate to go back but I would be strict in advance on what room I wanted and would not pick a room on the 2nd floor in the summer (this was my choice however) as the aircon is not good.

Stay in the castle

I stayed in this hotel several times and it was always nice. Hotel itself is very beautiful, rooms equipped with historical furniture as well, but the best is park around.... And the restaurant which serves fantastic steaks :-).

Unfortunately I didn't have chance to visit the spa, as the only day when I have time for some relax, there were some problems with electricity... In general I can only recommend...

And btw - breakfast is great reserve enough time in the morning. The only small issue is the service in the restaurant... Sometimes incredibly slow..

Wonderful find: great atmosphere, friendly staff, top notch restaurant

Needed a stop over on drive back from Nuremberg and this seemed reasonably proved. On arrival, one sees a German castle/manor house on its own estate complete with chapel, barrel maker, courtyard and grounds and other attractions.

Inside it is charming with old fashioned furniture and decoration all like stepping into a museum.

Restaurant was outstanding: wide variety of excellent local food backed with a great wine list. Im not a fan of the local Franken wines and the waiter was happy to steer me towards a very pleasant Barolo which really complemented the main course.

For me, this find was the gem of the trip which, although for business reasons, turned into a very pleasant exploration of several new places.

Hotel is good, spa is superb!!!

This castle hotel is located in quite and peaceful spot. Welcome was ok, not particularly warm. They were having kind of a quiet day when we were there. So, bar and lobby was kept closed. It would have been quite nice if they had the fireplace lit up in the main lobby area, sadly it was not.

Rooms were quiet, spacious and comfortable. Had great sleep.

As it was cold outside I wanted kill an hour in the spa. Spa is designed to give a feeling from Middle East. Design, colors and lighting gave a very rich, cozy, warm feeling. Resting area was really inviting. I have seen many very big spas and I must admit this one was very enjoyable. One of the reason clearly was it was not crowded.

Wireless did not work.

Breakfast is served in the wintergarden. The odd thing is that, one needs to go out of the main building and walk through the garden in zero degrees to reach breakfast room. But these things happen in castle hotels. Breakfast was very good. Table settings were excellent. See photos please.

Poor service, poor mgt, poor overworked staff

after a month, numerous emails, phone calls, face to face meetings and printed invitations sent, we had to pull the plug and move our event to a different location. felt like a bait and switch, but could have also been just poor management and coordination. prices agreed in writing then changed, event managers on their side switched in midstream, type of event mixed up (baptism or a funeral) and even had the wrong family name on the final menu offer and confirmation. Beautiful buildings and grounds to go with the 5 stars, but ownership is apparently resting on their laurels and not focused on service and customers today. Buyer beware!
