Magnificent hotel in a magnificent location

Where do I start? This is one of the most wonderful hotels I have ever stayed in. It is a small family hotel, owned and run by Medy and Benita.
We were on a short skiing holiday, stayed 5 nights, on half-board.

As appropriate for the land of "The Sound of Music", the excellent and friendly service "starts at the very beginning". We arrived at the bus station at the edge of Saas Fee, a quick phone call and within 5 minutes Luis was outside and put our bags in the car for the short ride to the Schweizerhof. We were welcomed by Benita, check-in took 5 minutes. Ola at reception was most friendly and helpful. We were brought to the bar for a welcome drink, and were shortly relaxing in the spa. By 8pm we were sitting for the first of our sumptuous meals at Schweizerhof.

Our room was beautiful - we were upgraded to a south-facing room with veranda. The view in the morning was wonderful (see photo). The room and indeed all the hotel was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Bed was the usual european twin bed arrangement, very comfortable, firm mattresses. Spacious bathroom with full bath. Separate WC - an idea more hotels should consider!
The spa was great - nice pool and plenty of relaxation areas etc.

Bar is small and most welcoming, and any time we looked in there seemed to be a nice "buzz".

The restaurant - superlatives fail me. We were taken care of for most of our stay by a really nice waitress, Yin. Buffet breakfast was the perfect start to the day - plenty of very good food and fresh coffee to prepare for a few hours on the slopes. Every morning on our table was a short newsletter which included the weather forecast and menu for dinner. Most interesting, the front page was a form of epistle by the local minister for tourism, who is also a pastor. This was a most interesting and really intriguing touch!

Dinner each night was excellent. The 6-course menu changed completely every day and from amuse bouche to desert, every bite was really good. Wines ..... Medy is an oenologist and Schweizerhof has an extensive cellar mainly of local wines. We tried a different one each night on the recommendation of the sommelier and all were excellent.
Entertainment during dinner centres on a wonderful Sicilian pianist who has an endless eclectic repertoire. Each night, Medy ran a wheel of fortune - be careful with this, I won a prize, one hour working with the service team for breakfast. Medy is a lovely singer and entertained us on a few evenings, including a memorable Yodel.

The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the nursery slopes. The hotel car goes up and down regularly, and Luis was available at very short notice

Experienced a professional but still charming vacation in the Schweizerhof in Saas Fee

Our family with 2 kids stayed for 10 days in this charming but still high class hotel. Besides skiing and wellness we enjoyed the culinary hospitality at breakfast and outstanding gourmet dinner every day. Our kids integrated into the living style of the hotel very quickly due to the kids facilities, the SPA and most importantly due to the very open minded and welcoming hotel owners. We can highly recommend Schweizerhof in Saas-Fee for all like minded guest as we are.

Very relaxing short break in Saas Fee in the Schweizerhof. For those who like skiing in high altitude and enjoy late afternoon swimming pool and jacuzzi. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the hotel well located and nice. Good fresh orange for the breakfast.

A Gourmet Delight

We spent a week at Hotel Schweizerhof - our third return.

Once again it did not disappoint.

Benita (the owner) greeted us warmly and did all she could to make our stay enjoyable. It is clear that hospitality is in her DNA - part of the reason we return to this hotel.

Whilst everything about this hotel is delightful, the food is a real standout. We signed up for the half board and it was a feast for our eyes and taste buds every morning and night. There are always healthy options on offer so that you don't over indulge. A big thank you to Aleksandra who looked after us in the restaurant each night.

The spa is also very good with both adult only and family facilities.

We look forward to our fourth visit.

We just stayed here for one night before climbing one of the Peaks the next day. Thus bear in mind that this Review is only representive for a one night stay. But it get's the full Rating as it just does right what a 4 star Hotel should do! Was stood out was the friendly welcome. Without checking I feel confident to claim that this place is a Family run place which These days can be unique, however noticeable as you immediately feel welcomed.

The Food at the Restaurant is delicious and do try the local wine recommendations. The style of the Restaurant is a bit out of place for our taste, yet this is personal. The rooms have a nice modern touch and you get the Impression that they are trying to Keep up with the changing styles of Hotels. The SPA I would say has recently been updated, the pool and perhaps also the bathroom of our room still Need to get the refresh. Having said that though, this did not disturb us one bit.

All in all, a really enjoyable stay and by the way a fantastic view of the Alalinhorn and the glacier from our top floor room, which I highly would recommend.

one last comment, for Swiss Standards, this Hotel is fantastic value for Money!
