Conference Time...Why did we come?

starlight718on 25/06/2017 20:55

Our annual conference was here the week of 6-13. We hadn't been here in awhile. The last time we were here we had a blast. Not this time. First off the conference staff has changed and therefore did not have any personal reason to accommodate us.
Our conference started at 1p on a Wed. Folks getting off the road, and picked up lunch to make the opening session was told that they could not bring their food in.
next, the chef had to change, because the food was not great for what we paid. the biggest complaint that we had was the food. No water on the table, just a jug of water /lemons in the back of the room.
We were not comped a hospitality room, and upon arrival of the room that WE PAID for the room was filthy. Microwave and refrigerator were not cleaned and we had to clean. On top of that, someone stole liquor from us.

I am truly disappointed in how this "resort" did not meet prior expectations. Maybe this is why they didn't get my vote.

The grounds are nice, but you need something other than a pool for people.

Beautiful grounds

We had stayed here once before several years ago and wanted to stay again. My husband was singing in a concert and he had to be there before hand at 4:30. I called to see if we could get an early check in around 2:30 so that he wouldn't have to drive the whole 2 1/2 hours in his tux. There was no problem with an early check in. When we arrived the room was ready and waiting.

They have beautiful grounds that are well kept. The room was nice and the bed was great. I am not sure if all rooms have the kitchenettes or not, but ours did. It consists of a small stove, small refrigerator and a dishwasher. This would be nice if you are staying more than the one night that we did. The bathroom was large with two sinks. The light overhead was out and I forgot to mention it at checkout (think our room was 305). There does seem to be limited parking so you may have to walk quite a ways to your car. There is an unloading area near the building that we were staying in but we did have to park quite a ways away after unloading. By the time we returned from his concert, there were places closer (probably because everyone else was out to dinner. :-)

Our room overlooked a pond and it was fun to watch the turtles.

We would stay here again if we are back in this area.

They do have a dining room, but I can't comment on that as we were not there for any meal times.

Very nice spacious suite. Be careful when requesting marsh view. If it's hot will just have view of dirt since water dried up. Grounds are really nice staff could be a little more personable. But overall nice and clean place to stay. Ten minute drive to pier, beach, restaurants and shops.

Nice space, slightly dated

We stayed overnight on Memorial Day weekend and were pleased. The grounds are well-kept and beautiful. The buildings are a bit older, but clean and pleasant. Our room was spacious with a nice "separate" sitting area & kitchenette. Much larger than a standard hotel room. The pool area is very pleasant. The onsite restaurant & bar is fine. Nothing spectacular, but not bad. The price was a bit high, but we WERE on SSI on a holiday weekend.

Golf outing

Golf course was in good shape and once you learned how to putt the grass was both challenging and rewarding.
The sun is setting on the resort. Rooms need updating and the pubic house bar is poorly managed and understaffed. Getting a beer or sandwich at the turn was almost impossible without creating a log jamb on the course. I went with a group of twenty and it looks like this was the first group of twenty they ever had. The upside was breakfast. A nice little breakfast bar with a very personable waitress that worked her butt off to take care of us all.
