What People are saying

Nice area

monkey12on 15/07/2017 23:07

Very pretty area with some cute shops. Only issue is it cost $6.00 to get a day pass to eat or shop which is nuts. Nice water views and fake light house. Lots of boats to look at which is always a lot of fun.

Wonderful Resort for Families

We spent one week in a house that slept 19 people! It was beautiful and perfect for us. There were 6 bedrooms and each had their own bathroom. There was a nice pool and hot tube with plenty of seats around the pool and inside the screened-in-porch. The house was also an easy (and beautiful) 5 minute walk to the beach.

We had the Escape Package-which I highly recommend. It really is a good deal with all that is included. We rented bikes through Sea Pines and they delivered them right to the house. We also did some of the activities they offer through the resort-overall, I wasn't too impressed with the activities. This is what we did:

Fishing: $16 adult/$13 kids for 2 hours of fishing. I thought there would be instruction and teaching my children how to fish-nope. They just gave us a pole, some raw hotdogs, and advice to stay away from the 3 alligators that were in the small pond. Not worth it.

Craft Activities: price varies on what your children (or you) decide to do. My daughter 'made' a stuffed animal (just stuffed stuffing into the animal)-that was $15 and took 5 minutes. My son & I painted ceramics ($13 each)-that took about 10 minutes. You could also do sand art, tie-dying, and making a beaded necklace. It was all very 'do it yourself'; no instruction/help/organization. I was not impressed.

Wildlife at Night: $16 adult/$13 child. Almost our whole family chose to do this activity. There was no information on where the exact location was to meet the tractor that took you on the tour. There are two entrances to the Wildlife Sanctuary and we couldn't find the second entrance. We finally had to stop at the guard house and ask; since it was 8pm no one was available to help and the front desk wasn't sure where the location was.
Unfortunately, when we arrived the tractor wasn't working so the activity was canceled. We were given a full refund.

The best activity we did was a dolphin watch (but no through Sea Pines) through H20 sports. The one included in our package was a boat of 50+ people. So we decided to pay for a smaller tour through H20 and it was perfect! 14 of us all were on one boat and saw so many dolphins. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and fun.

We also did kayaking through H20 sports at 9am. That was a great activity and saw dolphins as well. We kayaked over 2 miles, so be prepared for a great workout!

Overall, Sea Pines is a great place to take a family. The bike paths all around the resort are fun and safe, the beach is beautiful, and the houses gorgeous. My advice would be to reserve bikes ASAP, reserve activities/tours ASAP, and buy a portable fan-it is SO hot in the summer!

Very nice location BUT could be much better...

My wife and I stayed at the inn for two nights. The inn and grounds were very nice and the staff was very friendly. We didn't partake in the free bicycles but did walk to restaurants and shops that were close by.
But
Upon arrival there was no one to assist with luggage. The butler who checked us in was very nice but didn't know much about the available attractions listed in the inns pamphlet. After I loaded the bags on a cart and halfway to the room the butler walked over to assist us get bags in the room.
I noticed a single wine glass sitting on the floor in the hall outside my door upon arriving and it was still there when I left. The butler advised the pool next to the building was for adults only and the family pool was further away from the building. This pool is VERY small and apparently no one told the families with children throwing balls around the pool that it was for adults only.
I do not fault the staff because all the butlers we asked questions weren't prepared to answer them because they all seemed to be new and had only been in the U.S. for a short time. It is the administration that failed these butlers and intern failed us. By the way...when we checked out there was no one to help with bags again. The inn charges a high price per night but I don't feel it is deserved. It is nit the experience I was hoping for...Hilton Head was beautiful but I'll try another location next time.

Fun family vacation but Caravel Mold issues

Lisa Ron 06/07/2017 03:19

We rented 3 units at Sea Pines Resort over July 4th week 2017. Two of the units were great, two in Caravel and one off Cutter Court. Two units were well decorated, fairly clean, with easy access to all resort amenities. Washer and dryer accessible on hall. We rented bikes in advance as they were useful to get around. Water sports were fun and marina access convenient. Our balconies overlooked the light house and beautiful sunsets. Most disappointing was our three bedroom unit at 1033 Caravel Court. It smelled of powerful air fresheners when we arrived, that we eventually learned were used to cover the horrible smell of mold and mildew throughout unit. Appears paint was applied to cover significant mold and water damage within unit. Closet and air unit had visible black mold. Cracking ceilings where previous water damage likely. Old and outdated decor and furnishings. Our unit was the most expensive and reportedly at the highest level, and was undeniably the worst that we have ever stayed. Wall paper peeling, master toilet basin rocked when sat upon, air conditioning unit worked poorly and air flow inconsistent in bedrooms. Basic outfitted kitchen but pretty minimal. Boxed fans were provided in each bedroom and necessary for comfortable sleeping at night. We contacted the main office and they left us a voice message within the hour of our complaint that they checked these items and found no problems and would send someone to look at ceilings. No further response. I will not stay in this unit again as their unit was unacceptable due to mold
and response of complaint very poor.
