Very friendly, lovely setting
LoneBriton 11/06/2015 21:40It's in the middle of nowhere - but that's the attraction. You'll need a car to get here but it's very close to the motorway while being far enough away to be a beautiful rural location. Lovely country walks literally on the doorstep.
Staff were exceptionally friendly and the food was good. Evening meals were reasonably priced - for Denmark.
A large, spacious room, well lit with a nice shower and comfortable chair. But no in-room facilities (e.g coffee or fridge).
Thin walls - I could hear the snores from next door.
My favourite of 7 hotels on my trip.
First Visit
Tripple_Disasteron 27/11/2014 23:02Recently taken to Purhurs by a friend, we had a great meal, the restaurant have various signature dishes and focuses on on local Danish food. The servings are large and staff very friendly, set in what appears to be the middle of newhere.
Travelers rest
travellingal_13on 23/10/2014 12:04This was such a refuge having raced to the sjellands odder ferry from an awful hotel in Vedbaek. We had nowhere to stay and this wonderful old inn gave us a lovely if slightly dated room, with a shower that older people can actually use and very comfortable beds. Dinner service had finished, it was 22.30, but we were given large glasses of red wine on arrival. Thankfully we crawled into bed and awoke to find the inn was in a lovely forest area, a very good breakfast and could continue our journey through Denmark very refreshed! Could be a very good base for a cycling or walking holiday. Would certainly stay here again.
Amazing
HÃ¥vard Ton 30/06/2014 15:38We were on our way from Aarhus ti Hals when our infant kid woke up and cried. We stopped at the first available stop and ended up at Purhus Kro. With no expectations at all we went in and were greeted heartfully by big Dane. I orderered the Sild, Silje the stjerne and little Jon ate some really homemade milk (to say the least).
This was a splendid place with splendid menu. The quality was great. We will come back!
WORLD CLASS KITCHEN
DaveDarlingtonon 06/10/2013 20:59Yet again, with my birthday to celebrate, we decided to give Purhus Kro, a whirl once more.
Some people might think that my reviews are maybe a little biased, or ficticious. Well, let me tell you something, dear Tripadvisor reader. The food our party of 4 have just experienced, is nothing short of WORLD CLASS.
None of this snobby gourmet crap, with a microscopic bit if fancy food in the middle of the plate. No, no, no......
My Weinerschnitzel was the size of a badminton ketcher, my wife's "Stjerneskud" was hanging over the plate. My daughter's steak was probably the biggest meal she has EVER eaten, in all her 16 years !!
Not only were the portions immense, but the quality of the food is magnificent. Good home cooking is how i like to describe it. Food made the REAL way, with love and affection.
Without doubt, the ONLY place in The ENTIRE area, that can deliver the goods - properly.
I can honestly say, that if it wasn't for the fact that it would probably have killed them, i would probably have asked the owners, to carry me to my car. I could hardly move.
One final touch to a memorable evening was definatly the Union Jack flag on our table to mark my birthday. I wonder where they found that ????
Remember, only visit Purhus Kro if you're hungry. REALLY hungry :))))))
