Perfect stay at a beautiful location
RDeanson 02/07/2017 10:53My partner and I started our Swiss holiday with 2 nights at this hotel - we had been travelling for the previous 10 days and wanted a more relaxed stay. In this context, it could not be better. The location was perfect, like having a private bit of lakeside, with a lovely view of the surrounding mountains. The hotel is away from the center of town (a few mins to the bus stop, which takes about 15 mins to the main train station) but that contributes to the very quiet environment around the hotel.
The staff (I understand its family run) were helpful and pleasant and contributed to our having a very enjoyable dinner. The hotel also gave us useful tips before we arrived. The breakfast selection was very good and the lake setting unbeatable.
We arrived during hotter than usual weather, but it was pleasant at night and we did not need to use the fan provided in the room.
Lovely setting, pleasant family-run hotel
davemh333on 28/06/2017 21:59This small, intimate hotel is located on a quiet cove with a lovely view of Lake Lucerne about a twenty minute drive from central Lucerne. The hotel is run by a very hands-on couple -- he seemed to be constantly working on the immaculate grounds and she was a very helpful hostess. The room wasn't special but was pleasant enough. Switzerland was having a heat wave while we were there, and like most smaller hotels there there's no A/C. The small desk fan didn't cut it. Still, a charming and very pleasant place to stay.
Quiet and great food
HeidiABon 25/06/2017 07:02The hotel is a family owned hotel, located directly on the lake about 15 minutes drive outside Lucerne. It is a very quiet hotel with a great restaurant terrace. The rooms are not very big but adequate. The two round tub chairs in the room, are very uncomfortable for longer sitting sessions.
Expect a lot more for that price!!! Honest opinion
kevin pon 25/06/2017 00:06Now lets clear a few things up first. Switzerland is very expensive. We arrived during some of the hottest days they have had apparently. Central Europe is normally hot in summer though.
Out of 5 hotels on our trip of switzerland none had air con. However this is by far the most expensive hotel of the lot & was meant to be the prize joy to end the trip & yet still no air con!!! When its 28 degrees outside at 11pm & we are above the kitchen.
We actually spent more time in the centre & wanted to escape the hotel.
We arrived fairly late & I can't describe how hot it was anyway but this hotel & our room was like a sauna. Our room was above the kitchen. Now we didn't pay for a lake view, so no moaning there, and believe me I don't moan, when i see luxury & goof value i know it. Our view of the 'city' is 1 house being done up & is a construction site. Noise in the morning but not too early, so no dramas there.
Next our balcony is actually a fire escape, so anyone can potentially get to our room. Now after leaving the room & saying do no disturb a letter was left saying if you want fresh towels go to reception, a nice touch, be warned you can check in until 12, but reception closes at 10, no entry without key card after & restaurant likely closes before 11. We came back to our room & our balcony door was unlocked so that is very concerning!! Nothing appears to be taken.
Most comments are great about the food, i cannot comment on that. Breakfast is nice, should hope so if 4 stars & in the price.
No given this heat, which is unusual perhaps, which it really isn't i can imagine winter is nice here. But then the lake maybe not so pretty.
Its in a remote private location 7min walk from bus stop, which is free any way really for tourists, never get checked. Nice lake if have your own boat or want do water sports, no idea if any there, didn't seem to be. But next to it is just waste land swamp, really really strange & in the heat of summer it is not pleasant with the amount of bugs. Bitten alot!!!
So for me, just based on this its nice enough location, i know in some ways you should pay the extra for the lake view, but you still wouldn't have air con & even the little things like can you help us book a boat excursion, no you need to go to the city centre.
We arrived from st moritz after staying at landgasof merieri which is the best hotel i have stayed in & couldn't of done more for us & was cheaper with a complete spa onsite included. Just not even a comparison, where that is 5 stars, great restaurant also & this is likely a 1 star if you want to go off the price paid, but I don't want to be harsh as i can see the slight attraction of the place only if you had your own boat & a lake view & air con!!
Its alot of money, even in swiss money for nothing. Just stay in city centre enjoy view there. Better to swim in that lake anyway also. Nothing in horw town either.
I even write this on my last night staying here im that upset with the value.
How on earth that is 4 stars i never know. Food maybe good, but thats not the hotel.
Again they may have given us the worst room for extra heat & the view but they should discount that room if that is the case!!
Lunch with friends
Tango17on 04/06/2017 14:37Had lunch here on Saturday with a group of friends for a bit of a celebration..
The location is amazing, right on the lake, and the hotel is gorgeous. We are outside on a huge terrace which thankfully had a bit of an awning as it was rather warm. The food was lovely and the staff were friendly.. Will def return when next in this part of the world
