A Gem in Schleswig-Holstein near the Danish Border
IngerMargretheon 25/05/2017 14:06Seehotel Toepferhaus is a gem and a stay here is really a treat, when looking for chill out time, wellness, nature and nice food.
The Hotel is beautiful situated by Lake Bisten, which has a great wildlife and the hotel offers a variety of watersport activity as well as an outdoor hot water tub.
In nice weather you can have your meals on the terrace overlooking the garden and the lake.
The Buffet Breakfast is really nice, quality products and a nice display.
The restaurant offers a daily meat dish and catch of the days as well as a la carte. Good food😀 and a huge wine card.
Moneymachine - but lovely ind the nature
Michael Con 12/04/2017 09:09Well located in the nature - lovely with the see. Lot of sun places around the Seehotel Toepferhaus. Got a good deal, but the exchange rate Euro - Danish Kronen - was only 7,00 - normal 7,75, so we have to pay 19 Euro more than expected for two nights. Very good kitchen, but a small menu card.
A Magical Christmas by the lake .
charleshewitton 30/12/2016 18:21This was our second Christmas at this lovely hotel by the beautiful lake and surrounded by woods .PEACEFUL .
My wife and I were not disappointed for our second Christmas time, as it was so Brilliant in every way .
From the moment you arrive you are well looked after ,From Peter the manager to the rest of the staff ,smiling ,caring and most attentive in their desire to keep their guests happy .
We stayed for 3 nights and ate each evening in the dining room ,what food ,one of the best steaks ever served with delicious strudel potato and each course was a truly amazing cuisine adventure.
One feels so relaxed in this country house hotel ,with the log fire burning one can read ,listen to music ,chatting to our Danish ,German fellow guests, who all said to us how relaxed they were and were definitely returning for another stay and the hotel is so close to the Danish border ,
The sauna is even better now and with the lake only 20 seconds away ,one is able to dip in and out ,to really appreciate the sauna .Danes and Germans love this winter bathing .
Breakfast is truly superb ,with so much to choose from , hot to cold foods and having champers for breakfast really set my wife up for the day ,serving to 10.30 am , even with it being Christmas there was none of that rushing you out of the room .Through out the whole festive holiday we enjoyed 5 star ++ service
It is only 5 minutes from the E45 and the coast is only 25 minutes away ,the hotel is well located .
Thank you Peter ,Yolanter ,Kathrin ,and those cheerful waiters ,all of you made it a lovely, lovely Christmas for us .
looking forward to a Spring break with yourselves .

Cute, friendly country hotel for relaxation and wellness
Lulapixon 25/09/2016 09:19In summary: A good option for a night or a weekend away in the countryside if you want to 'get away from it all'
Details: We booked a wine and dine mini-break at the Töpferhaus which included bed and breakfast, aperitif, four course dinner and a glass of wine each. The hotel decor is modern but cosy and the hotel itself is situated at the edge of a large lake. Our lake view room was very comfortable; the bathroom was a little small and dated (the shower door didn't close properly, hairdryer was as so often not very powerful etc.) but everything was clean. We paid extra for the lake view, coffee and cake and an Ofuro bath. The homemade cakes were delicious and the service friendly. The bath was a lot of fun; it was raining when we wanted to hop in but luckily the whole thing is under a little waterproof igloo so we could relax dry and warm! Throughout our stay the staff were very friendly but there were a few things that could be improved. There had been a large wedding the night before we arrived and we could tell that the location / staff were exhausted / recovering and that perhaps as a result we weren't catching them at their best... Although we had booked the bath in advance we had to call and ask to be given bathrobes and slippers, which should have been in the room as standard but had been forgotten. At dinner the personnel were friendly but the food was not great. The set dinner was a soup, sorbet, steak and vegetables and a chocolate tart which all sounded great but turned out to be disappointing in the end. I appreciate that when you travel a lot your standards and expectations are often higher but we paid a 4* price for what was at best a 3* dining experience. The only course that needed much attention on the night was the steak as everything else was pre-prepared or store bought (e.g. the pastry case for the chocolate tart which was hard and dry) but unfortunately the steak was also prepared without much care and although we had asked for rare was well done, tough and dry. The food wouldn't have bothered us as much if we hadn't been booked in for the 'wine and dine' experience and again, I assume that we caught them on a rough night post-wedding, but to be honest that shouldn't be our problem. The breakfast the next morning was excellent and we were able to sit outside and relax in the sunshine which was a great way to end the break.
Practicalities: online booking available, parking available, wifi, wide range of wellness options, food onsite, easy to reach from the motorway, discount available for nearby outlet mall
Highlights: lakeside location, large lake view terrace, outdoor bath, excellent breakfast
Charming place
Julia Pon 12/07/2016 08:43We had a great stay including a room with garden view (very calm and nice) and dinner on the terrace. The sauner is super and a jump in the lake is exceptionel. The personnel is very friendly, welcoming and let you feel at home.
