Decline of a hotel
DuchessadiNapolion 03/06/2017 08:15I have been coming here for years, to enjoy the peace and quiet, and to have a meal with my friends on a lovely terrace with breathtaking views. But every year they ruin it more and more. Every time some renovation or work is done on the place, they make more ugly and more kitsch. To have such a beautiful position and then ruin it with such bad taste is a crying shame.
For example, on the terrace looking down over the entire length of Lake Lugano, idiotic plastic frames and wine bottles have been hung up, ruining the beautiful view. This is not only bad taste, it is infantile and nasty.
And we ordered one kind of drink and were brought another. When we protested, we were told that that was all they had. Couldn't the waitress have informed us beforehand?
No, it's a tragic travesty of a natural beauty spot, and I shall probably find it too painful to return.
Beautiful hotel with perfect view

Hotel restaurant with amazing view. However the service and quality of the food wasn't as good as expected.

Kevin Hon 18/05/2017 08:49Just like being on top of Lugano lake...staff was most welcoming and answered all our questions. The room was very nice, great views all sides. However air-con would be nice! We had dinner in the restaurant. Nothing but first class, both food and service. Would definitely recommend....
short break in Tessin
mikeyboy07on 06/09/2016 20:08set in the forest high above Mendrisio with stunning views across Lake Lugano. Quite a challenging drive, especially at night just to reach the hotel. Friendly informative, multi-lingual staff at reception. Superior room, very spacious with balcony, fridge but no AC. Lack of pillows and bedside table with lamp was a little strange. Great walk-in power shower, lots of towels and a dressing gown provided. Indoor swimming pool including whirlpool, Jacuzzi etc very nice indeed. Fitness room needs modernizing including some new equipment. Breakfast was adequate but nothing special, lack of choice and the queue for the coffee machine every morning was a pain. Please either provide pots of coffee or buy a second machine!! Dinner on the terrace was a very enjoyable experience, great staff although if I was to be very picky the portions were a little on the small side. Overall we enjoyed our break.
Weekend stay with breathtaking view
Tati1211on 23/08/2016 22:51This hotel has so stunning view of Lugano Lake. The building itself and hotel rooms are a bit outdated, however the main restaurant is carefully redecorated. Our superior room facing to the garden looked very eighties: tired furniture, outmoded curtains and long-lived bath towels. The breakfast buffet is not outstanding, but there are some gluten free products available! We stayed for one dinner in the hotel restaurant and tried the fish menu; sea bass and shrimps were delicious and worth of its price. Hotel staff is very friendly. Despite my comments about its style, I would recommend this hotel for a weekend stay (walking in nature; enjoying the views and shopping in Fox Town outlet).
