What People are saying

Very clean and well designed complex although tired.

Reception functional. Gardens down to clean pools (child and main) pleasing to use and lots of beds and sunshades available (some broken). Rooms had sufficient equipment and comfort. Good Wi-Fi by pool, less so further away. It's a little hidden behind a derelict complex and on top of a hill so takes 15 mins walk down to town, 20 mins back up and we are fast walkers. Bar food a little expensive, on site shop too. Good place to use as a base but only if you like walking and definitely not suitable for wheel chair users.
Kill mosquitoes before you go to sleep.

Lovely, friendly apartments

Just returned from a week at Pateo Village and tbh it exceeded my expectations. Travelled with husband and daughters aged 9 &13, and we got a really good deal for school holidays - hence our decision to ignore some negative reviews and take the plunge (so glad we did!)
I'd emailed ahead and requested a top floor room - we were duly given this (310) and the views from the huge roof terrace were amazing...the pool areas and rural vista to one side and a panoramic view of Albufeira / the sea and miles more to the other.
Positives, in addition to the massive furnished terrace and views :
* large one bed apartment - good bathroom and kitchen, and beds in lounge absolutely fine for our kids. Lounge big enough to keep beds up through the day.
* cleaning 5/7 days, toilet roll and towels. Bed linen changed mid way through week.
* quiet area at night...If you value your sleep!
* Great pools - large kids pools and main pool. Added bonus was indoor pool and jacuzzi which was a godsend the first couple of days to escape the heatwave and strong sun!
* Just enough sun loungers for peak season - we always managed to get a couple.
* well kept grounds
* reception and bar staff friendly
* there is a small supermarket 200m away that stocks pretty much all you need unless you're cooking a three course meal! Ie. Drinks, bread, fruit, meat, cheese etc
* pool cafe-bar during day and bar in evening if you're not venturing out
* table tennis, tennis court, small playground for little ones, pool tables.
* wifi seems to reach pool and apartments
Ok, so a few negatives but these are by not biggies and certainly didn't spoil holiday :
* yes its a 15 min walk downhill to old town or marina...we knew this, and would rather have the quiet area / views. Taxi back 4€.
* no air conditioning. Again we were aware of this, and hit on the last few days of European heatwave (40c!) Top floor helped as a good breeze through the terrace and other windows...not sure about lower floors. Tbh when temperature dropped to usual low 30s it was fine.
* entertainment. There was a poorly attended act on each night in the bar - we go out so only caught bits in passing. I honestly think they should not bother and just put music on in the bar, as it doesn't seem to pull in the crowds!
* only BBC world channel on tv. Don't go on holiday to watch TV but BBC 1 or similar would have been nice for whilst in apartment.

We went out in the evening to the Old Town (great vibe) and Marina (more chilled) Loads of great eateries, bars, shops and people watching! Avoid the strip IMHO, unless you're 18-30!
Plenty of great beaches in the area too.
We had a half day at Parque Aventura in Balaia (5 km away ) doing high ropes and zip wiring which I definitely recommend - fabulous safe facilities.

Overall a great week at Pateo Village and we'd happily return. It's a very friendly place, my girls made lots of friends and it was safe environment for them to go off socialising!

Disappointed

An honest review from a week's stay here in August, I'll start with the pros.
The grounds are nice and well kept. The room was very clean and tidy, so a special mention to the staff who work hard with a hotel in need of major refurbishment. Two nice cafes and the O' Leme steak restaurant just down the road are a must. The cons, you know your in for a bad experience, when on the bus just before you arrive, there is a massive derelict complex almost opposite. On arrival the receptionist is pretty miserable, a nice welcome and a smile would have been nice. The rooms are very basic, the beds are very hard and uncomfortable. Exposed neutral cable could be seen in the DB board as pictured. Also cracked tiles, horrid furniture and a few ants .But the worst issue is the constant noise, we were in a middle apartment, the constant noise of chairs, tables, patio doors, and people slamming doors ( special mention to room 226, a group of lads who didn't sleep until 5am).One week was enough, two weeks would be hell. The pool has major issues with tiles coming off in places, my son cut his foot a fair few times, it's a shame as it's quite a nice pool. The on site supermarket should only be used in an emergency, as it's very expensive, and should be avoided. On site food is expensive, a breakfast is 7 euros 50,down the road a two minute walk, there are two lovely little cafes, where the same is 3 euros 80 .To conclude, Portugal itself is a yes, but this hotel needs a major refurbishment top to bottom.

Very Basic

As the title says very basic, we read before we got there 10 mins to the old there is no way you can do it in that time. there is nothing in the local area 1 small supermarket no bars or a decent place to eat. The market on site has very little and is expensive same with the pool snack bar 4 euro for a small plate of chips 5 euro for a sandwich. the pool could do with a clean and about half the sun umbrellas were broken. we have been going to albuferia for a good few years now we definitely not recommend this place

Our favourite hotel in the Albufeira area

nodnilon 08/08/2017 22:48

Pateo village apartments is our favourite place to stay in the Albufeira Area. The rooms are large and well equipped either as a studio or one bedroom apartment at a little extra. The rooms have a full kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower.

We prefer to stay in a top floor apartment as the patio area is huge and there is less noise from people walking above,

The rooms are cleaned as often as you would like, and for people like ourselves who like to sleep late the maids were kind enough to leave clean towels and linen outside the room.

Pateo has an onsite shop providing essentials and there are two pools, one outdoor and an indoor heated pool and Jacuzzi for colder days.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful especially Sandra in reception who always has a pleasant smile. Nothing is too much trouble. Having worked at Pateo for the nine years we have been staying there Sandra has the skills to deal with all the problems that may arise.
