Off-season, bad experience

I actually booked a bungalow from 7th Oct. - 10th. Oct. But the staff couldn't find our reservation, and the way from the camping village to the center was so far, that we decided to stay just for one night. We had to pay more than we expected (36 €) for a double Bungalow per night. In October the pool and gym are completely closed. And for the village shuttle, you have to pay 1€ per person...The last one is leaving the train station at 8 p.m. so no time for nightlife in roma, otherwise you have to walk around 20 min. I mean, it's a camping village, I didn't expect a lot...but that was just our worst stay in 2 Weeks of our Italy round trip.
If you don't have a car, don't go to the sevenhills village. If you have one, you will still find a better place to stay ;)

Awful.

Firstly, the seven hills village doesn't look anything like the pictures on the Internet, they need updating because it now looks like a youth club. Secondly, it is miles away from Rome and also the train station is a mission. The bus is 1 Euro and there's no sign for it outside the train station. Being an adventurous outgoing couple myself and my girlfriend were looking forward to going here but upon arrival it was terrible, bad service by the receptionist who was very rude, followed by a room that was literally a shed, it must have been built around the two single beds because there was no way you would have got those beds through the door! There were no plug sockets in said shed. I was that annoyed by all of this we actually booked a hotel in Rome city centre. Would only advise going here if you like cramped, uncomfortable living conditions and bad service.

Seven Hills Rome Holiday

imogensmum2016on 10/09/2016 10:28

Just had a wonderful 7 night holiday here. My advice is read trip advisor and act like a scout be prepared. Location is 30 mins from Rome on train, minibus to station every 30 mins, 1 euro per person each way, stops at 1pm and restarts 3pm. WiFi/mobile signal at pool, reception and bar. Bring mosquito killer you plug into mains at night, don't forget adaptor. Best get bungalow as own shower and toilet. Only one socket so you can only use one appliance at a time. Pool open 11am to 7pm food available until about 2.30pm, there is small gym and massages (extra charge) available. There are 3 restaurants and disco. Only one restaurant open at end of season, but great traditional food and warm welcome. Can be noisy as Contiki (18 - 35) have groups visiting and they like to party, but remember they are on holiday too!!! I booked through Love Holidays so transport to site from airport and back included. (Recommend Them ). I live in rural England so a ten min trip to station and then 30 min train is nothing. La Guistiana is run down suburb but there are shops, restaurants and a supermarket, you just have to look. Pre book your tickets for major roman attractions and pass the queue.
Like I said be prepared and look on as an adventure. I am 51 year old Mum with health problems , who speaks no italian who took an 11 year old child on my own and we had a great time!!!

Cheap and cosy

tudorm244on 06/09/2016 12:16

Very cheap, not very far from Rome(from the village you can take a bus to the train station for 1 euro and from there the train to the city for 1 euro). The only problem were the mosquitos. The village is quit, clean and I recommend it.

Awful Accommodation.

This place was a disaster. False advertisement from our travel agent. Looks nothing as described. Even the photos on the main seven hills website look nothing like it really is. After a very long day of travelling from the airport then to the centre of Rome we then had to get the metro and then a train up to the north of Rome where we then found a bus that dropped us off to a sign that pointed to where seven hills was supposed to be. We were relieved to see this sign as our feet ached and we were carrying suitcases. We walked down this very long hill in the heat and it was just going on and on with no more signs for the seven hills. We then realised this hill went no where! So we walked back on up this hill to find a shop to ask for directions. As soon as my partner walked in they said “Seven hills?” And then explained don't go that way that sign is not correct. They then told us directions down another road which was another 30 minute walk! After arriving we finally found the reception and we were very tired at this point with very sore feet. We did not have a warm welcome and as we were standing there with our suitcases obviously waiting to check in she made this guy more of a priority holding a light bulb and spoke to him for 10 minutes. When she finally spoke to us I asked if we could pay to upgrade to a bungalow as people on trip advisor recommended to do that on arrival but she got stressed and said no you haven’t given us enough notice we are fully booked. We said sorry we have just had a very long day and needed a bit of luxury. She then gave us a key to our accommodation. It was a shed! Looked nothing like the photos. In fact when we got home we found my garden shed was twice the size and it even had plug sockets and more windows! How they thought that room was fit for a human to stay in! I wouldn’t even have my dogs stay in that shed. We could barely move around these beds. It's like they built the shed around them and it was just two single beds put together and the middle was uneven so we would have been better off having two single beds. We had no room to put our suitcases the room was dark, very dim lighting and a very warm tempature. We could not have the window open as bugs would get in and also where the main door closed there was a big gap at the top. It also had no plug sockets. At this point I just cried and would of rather got a plane home. This was meant to be a fun relaxing birthday break and it was far from it. The shower and toilet facilities was quite a walk away form our shed and you had to walk up these metal uneven stairs to get to them. I didn't feel safe in them as a man was stood in the ladies side. It would be better if you had your own key to get into these facilities and then it would be a lot more safe rather than it being so open. The toilets were not clean I felt to uncomfortable with the bugs around me. We then found the main bar/restaurant and our first thoughts were it looked more like a youth club than a hostel. This is coming from a young out going couple in our 20s. It did not take our fancy. We walked around a restaurant and no one was around to serve. We then laughed and said it's more like a shop and restaurant from a apocalypse. There was a little pizza place that looked like the only place serving so we had no choice but to order one from there. We sat outside and said to each other we can't stay here and booked another hotel in the centre of Rome. You could only reach wi-fi from the main bar so that's where we sat and booked our next hotel. We then dropped the key off to reception and asked if we could get the last shuttle bus to the station which by the way is not free it is 1 Euro each. The shuttle bus was very late and at this point it was past 9pm and we needed to get the train and metro back to the city of Rome. Luckily the next hotel we booked stayed up for us. Our next hotel gave us a warm welcome, carried our bags to our room and we had a room with electricity, a safe to put our valuables in and a lovely bathroom with a power shower and even coffee and air conditioning. Just overall a very comfortable stay for a very good price not much more than seven hills and we had a secured room and it was right in the city and close walk to the Trevi fountain and we aslso had a metro station down the road. I wouldn't recommend staying at the seven hills if you want a city break it is too far from the city centre. Me and my partner said we couldn’t of travelled into the city everyday and we wouldn't of done as much as we did if we stayed at the seven hills. The Seven Hills Village made our first day of our holiday together a living nightmare. We are normally not ones to complain but I felt I needed to share my thoughts on this place. I think seven hills need to update there photos to show what it really looks like. We were not expecting the best but this was an awful place.
