Superb Traditional Turkish Hotel

chilledmumon 19/11/2016 13:49

We stayed here for one night in August, would of love to have stayed longer! This hotel is a little gem. If you like a glitzy, modern, could-be-anywhere hotel then this is not for you. The hotel is a walk away from all that Kalken has to offer. The family that own it are wonderful. There is a surprisingly large swimming pool, clean, basic rooms with great air con and fantastic views of Kalkan. Breakfast served on the roof terrace was fantastic (again great views) Really felt we were in Turkey after 2 weeks in a villa ! Thank you

Superb small hotel offering outstanding value for money for bed and breakfast (light lunches extra on request). Simply furnished in a traditional older style with lots of benefits; wifi, air conditioning, centrally located (only 1,700 strides to the harbour/restaurants and bars). This is imprortant as Kalkan is set on a steep hill and it's hot even at night. Fabulous views of the bay from the breakfast terrace and room balcony as we had a family room at the front of the hotel, good size and depth swimming pool and the hotel is very clean throughout. The young owners are quiet but friendly and extremely helpful in every way. In short, it's a relaxing place to stay and explore Kalkan and the surrounding area. If you like modern hotels with lots of luxuries and noise then this isn't for you. We are a family of 4 and we stayed for 9 nights and had a really pleasant stay. The room was more spacious than other family rooms we've stayed in elsewhere and met our needs perfectly.

Overnight Stay - 2 Families

DAGNon 20/08/2016 14:22

Our flight had been changed, we needed overnight accommodation, for 2 families. We were fortunate enough to find this wonderful, family run hotel, in the old town of Kalkan.
The rooms were basic, but very clean, with lovely views. Fantastic pool. Very accommodating family, that made us feel very welcome. A wonderful breakfast, and very reasonable prices.
I would highly recommend it, and will return myself.

Great little family-run hotel

We loved this little hotel. Bit like living with a Turkish family. They could not do enough for us. Very helpful and friendly.
The room was extremely clean but just a little too basic. We knew there wasn't a kettle, fridge or TV, but there was only a bed, bedside cabinets and a wardrobe. There was not enough drawer space or anywhere to store our cases so most of our stuff was piled up on the floor. Apart from two small wooden chairs on the balcony there were no other chairs. We also would have benefited from an extra waste bin (there was only one tiny one in the bathroom) as we had to use carrier bags from the supermarket.
There is good airconditioning and the free wi-fi works throughout.
As said in previous reviews, the breakfast was fantastic - but remember it is Turkish so you won't get an English fry-up! The views were stunning.
The location is brilliant for exploring Kalkan. If you turn left outside the hotel then go down the steep steps you will be almost in the centre. There is also a Carrefour at the bottom of the steps. Many other hotels are not within walking distance of the centre and you will need to get taxis.
The swimming pool was superb and we often had it to ourselves.
This is a great basic little hotel in Kalkan. It is very reasonably priced and perfect for a short stay. It's not the Ritz and there are no activities etc. so if don't go there expecting too much you will be pleasantly surprised.

Excellent value hotel

We stayed for 2 weeks in September and found the hotel very clean and comfortable. The room was simply furnished but quite adequate. The cleaning was very good and done every day. The buffet style Turkish breakfast was lovely. They have a very good sized pool with some lovely natural shade in the adjacent outdoor bar area. There is a comfortable shady veranda at the front and a lovely roof terrace for breakfast with stunning views across Kalkan Bay. The staff were extremely helpful and made our stay a very happy one. Would definitely book again.
