Great service for a boutique hotel. Pricey, small rooms with a great location near beach
iScout4Uon 23/06/2017 21:34Super chic and nice vibe. Yummy breakfast with lots of fruit yogurt and noshes. Rooms are quite small and luxurious. Bar scene is fun on weekend nights.
No views to speak of from rooms, building or restaurant. Unless you plan to stay in the room, not a great value for money spent.

My co-worker and I stayed there and it was one of the true highlights of our trip! From the moment we checked in (early but they held our bags, gave us a glass of champagne-who doesn't love that?) to the moment we checked out it was first class. Our lunch at their restaurant was delicious and fresh, drinks were wonderful, and the room was just really lovely. Manhattan Beach is fabulous any time of the year and I've been there a lot to shop and eat but now I know that whenever possible the Shade is where I will be staying! Thank you so very much for making the stay so glorious!
An outstanding example of modern boutique hotel
Ivan Gon 21/06/2017 17:17Perfect location, latest technology features, offbeat decorative elements. The rooms are really nice with great tub in the middle of the room. Everything is withing walking distance. The service can not be better! Love this place!
Great hotel on a great beach

Breakfast was great, valet was helpful with ideas of things to do, Angelo at the front desk was very helpful and gave us perfect customer service! Location is convenient to the Strand and great restaurants! We will be back!
Great location with smart modern rooms
Erich Mon 14/06/2017 00:15Enjoyed the location, top of the hill but short walk to beach, in a airy and open design with lovely modern rooms.
Arrived late but check-in was easy with a nice glass of sparkling wine to welcome me. My room was on the second floor, nicely appointed with great mood lighting. I had a small balcony, unfortunately with a road view, but pleasant to sit out. The bathroom is big, with a nice tub and separate shower. I really liked the big bathroom but that resulted in a smaller room with no desk - as a business traveller I'd have rather had desk space but again still comfortable.
They offered a complimentary breakfast that was very good.
My only complaint was 1) No decent sound system 2) pillows are hard --- never seen anything like this --- not my fav
Overall, very nice hotel and would recommend
