Swimming Pool
Fadjar Won 28/08/2017 14:12Had a great relaxing time spent at the pool and health facility with my family. The pool was fully supervised by a pool guard assure you for safety. The water playground was full of fun especially for kids under 5 y.o. and had never found comparable to it in Jakarta.

Beresford1125on 28/08/2017 12:18I have visited jakarta many times. I have stayed in many 5* hotels. In my opinion the customer service offered by the Shangri La is the best of all.
Despite being a large city centre hotel they appear to have mastered the art of showing the customer that their custom is welcomed and valued. Most 5* hotels have the top quality facilities but here they appear to have well trained staff who collectively work together to offer a personal service - often remembering your name; your preferred drink; preferred table; etc.
The real test of customer service is how you deal with things when they go wrong. I have the misfortune to have a leak from an air conditioning unit in the middle of the night which did cause some disruption. The management went the extra mile to address the issue and even offered me an upgrade when I made a subsequent booking. Impressive.
Highly recommend.
Nice stay but worrisome issues
Richard Lon 24/08/2017 05:46The room I received was on a non smoking floor and was clean and quiet and I was able to have a very peaceful sleep; something I value highly.
I think the standard of service has slipped however. Clothes that I had sent for laundry did not return way past the expected time and I had to call to have it tracked down. Room service took longer than promised to be delivered.
Above all, one morning lifts were not operating on at least 2 occasions over the course of 3 hours when I wanted to use the lifts.
On the positive side the breakfast buffet spread was very good in terms of variety and food taste and quality.
Get kids out of the Horizon Club
Peter Hon 24/08/2017 05:24This is a classic true 5* Hotel that work on the principle of true hospitality, but still lacking some details which is really a matter of planning. Fantastic reception on arrival staff was ready to greet me already when entering the hotel (took a hotel car so the trick is for driver to inform reception on arrival), so started just 5*... Room was a bit disappointing as I would have imagined a better upgrade as a diamond member but also I found the room very small compared to new hotels arrived in Jakarta. However Service is sooo good here. Pool is nice and one of the reasons that I choose the hotel arriving over a weekend, because its like an oasis in Downtown. Now for the Horizon lounge not sure I was that impressed except for food which was very very good and chef catering for my complain about serving curry where no rice was to find...He just went out of the box and presented a wow curry meal...For me the lounge i a bit like a station with to many kids and infants around and that can become a challenge. I also think they need more staff to service and please upgrade the wine you have... Go for more than the $6 bottles now that everything else i so high quality... For sure this will be my choice in Jakarta and I am sure that my few negatives will be taken care of for my next stay....Now off to Bangkok so lets see what Shangri la can do here ...
Awesome family staycation
Nelda Hon 24/08/2017 02:59We stayed there for my son's birthday weekend and had an awesome family time. They have aqua playground where kids under 12 can run around in water soaked area. My 2 boys had a blast going back n forth between the aqua playground and the pool. There were a lot of people at the pool area but not super crowded that you can't find any place to sit and put your stuff.
Breakfast at Satoo as always was full of yummy selection.
The Sunday Kids Club activity can be improved I think. It was not free and the arts and crafts activities are not very exciting. Plus, It was held outdoor and started at 11 a.m., which is quite hot already. So the kids decided not to do it.
When we checked in, our horizon club room was not yet available even though we checked in at 2 pm already. The hotel gave us a temporary room, which I guess was a smoking room because of the ashtray in the room. But they did a great job airing out the room, I can't smell a cigarette smoke smell.
I did have to call the front desk a few times to inquire about our actual room. Finally at 7 pm, our room is ready. They deliver the room key to our temporary room and helped us move our stuff to our room. The reception manager wrote us a note of apology and send us layered cakes, chocolates and a full piece of chocolate cake. A very nice gesture, much appreciated. We hope to be back and receive as nice of a service on our next staycation.
If you are staying in horizon club rooms and would like to go into the horizon lounge during cocktail hours, make sure you pack smart casual outfit as they do not allow shorts and sandals in there.
