Much needed grown up down-time
medwakon 30/08/2017 02:45We were exhausted from consecutive weekends of babysitting our grandchildren and a couple of new arrivals in between. In order to avoid the traffic of Interstate 95 and 64, we decided to take Route 301 from King George, VA to Annapolis. We wanted to be within walking distance of restaurants and shops, so we booked at the Robert Johnson house for the weekend of August 25-27. We had a great weekend! We arrived at the Govt. Calvert House to pick up our keys and dropped off our car at the valet (we purchased the parking package.) All the staff were very attentive and friendly. Our hotel backed up to Main Street where we found plenty of restaurants with live entertainment, leading down to the harbor. We did venture out (valet brought our car promptly) and picked some Chesapeake Bay crabs at Cantlers, which was on our list of things to do. The room was small but quaint and comfortable and we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend this location for a weekend getaway.
Excellent historic ambiance
Robert Bon 27/08/2017 23:00This place is in the heart of history. It's beautiful and a perfect place to stay for couples and families. I will absolutely stay there again.
I was a bit nervous after a reading a couple of reviews but don't know what they were referring to because everything was excellent.
We stayed there looking for a break after dropping off our kids at college and the welcome and charm was everything we needed.
Lawrence in reservations
Al Won 27/08/2017 22:39Lawrence at the reservation desk was terrific--helpful, informative and made my booking experience easy and efficient. He helped me select the best historic inn for my plans and found me an excellent rate. Thanks for being so service-oriented and I look forward to a great stay!
Anniversary weekend
LEbie57on 25/08/2017 20:14We had a wonderful time at The Maryland Inn. Lovely room, bathroom was nice. Everything was nice and clean. Staying in the 200 plus year old building at the very top of Main St was perfect. When the hotel found out about our anniversary the sent a bottle of champagne to our room. We are already talking about our next visit. Loved the room numbers in the clock.
Great Location, Great Bed
Christina Hon 25/08/2017 00:04My son and I stayed one night at this hotel in preparation for dropping him off at St. John's College.
The location couldn't be better - right in the heart of downtown - a 5 minute walk to the college and a 5 minute walk to Main Street. The room, while a tad on the small side - to be expected - was well-appointed with good internet and amenities. The beds, however, were the best - incredibly comfortable with a variety of pillows on each one, so any guest can be sure to find one that suits.
The bathroom, although again, a bit small, was lovely, with a nice shower.
Finally, I was relieved to find that they offered coffees and teas in the morning on the main floor, although they did not have an individual coffee maker in the room, as has become standard in many hotels.
