What People are saying

A wonderful 3 nights in a game lodge with a view to dive for

Glen Gon 17/04/2017 18:56

We visited Shayamoya with our 12 year old daughter and a sister and had the most fantastic stay. The spa treatment and Tiger fishing experience were some of our highlights but the welcoming and helpful hosts , the views, the lodge and our meals provided a very high baseline to start with. Highly recommended.

A great place to stay. Highly recommended

Stayed 3 nights
There are a lot of very nice Hotels and Lodges in South Africa but occasionally you come across a real gem

Shayamoya Lodge is one of those

The Chalet was perfect for our needs, clean and comfortable and waking up to that incredible view every morning was special
The food in the restaurant was beyond expectations. Breakfast had good choices and was delicious and the evening menu was well presented and really tasty. Recommend the home made soups and the oxtail casserole.

The Lodge does offer spa facilities and we did take advantage of the foot treatments. Good value for money.

Laundry services excellent and again really good value for money.

Excursions on offer were appealing including the fishing and walking with Rhinos but these would be dependant on weather so manage expectations before you arrive as to what is feasible .

But all that is not the main reason this place is special

What made us so very comfortable with our stay here was the incredible commitment of the owners and the staff to making us so very welcome.

This family owned Lodge is well run, well maintained, and obviously well loved. The care and attention we received when we stayed here was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and every consideration was given to what we would like to see and do during our stay.
The staff here are a real asset to the lodge with many of them having been with the family for years they demonstrated a sincere commitment to excellent friendly customer service.

Bev was outstanding, with excellent local knowledge and a real talent for making people feel comfortable, she was always available and ensured we never wanted for anything.

Everyone involved with Shayamoya is very proud of their lodge and it shows.

Will definitely come back here.

Warm hospitality at Shayamoya.

My husband and I arrived very late 8.30pm and were treated with such lovely warmth and hospitality by Bev and all the staff. They were more than happy to make us a delicious dinner (the best beetroot soup I have ever eaten). Our room was gorgeous a big four poster bed, lovely and private with views. Loved the outdoor shower too. The breakfast was the best we had in South Africa. Our only regret was that one night was far too short a stay we would love to return and do some tiger fishing and explore the game parks in the area. I would not hesitate to recomend this lovely lodge and hope to return myself someday.

Disappointing 5 Day stay

We where 11 people. Rooms are relatively good but not outstanding for the price. expected more. Very very poor service in the bar and restaurant and food expensive.
We experienced a theft from our room and was told that " This have never happened before"

Stay more than one night!

I left my heart in this lodge with the most wonderful view of the valley, the lake and the mountains. Everything was perfect. We had choosen that accomodation for its localisation , just 8 km from the Swazi border , but we will certainly come back to enjoy the place itself. We had a fantastic home braai for dinner, my daughter loved a swimming pool and we bought a lake safari early morning which I hardly recommend. My room was the most isolated, the most far from the reception and the view was just outstanding. You are at the top of the green mountain , the birds wake you up..Sitting at the tarrace you just want to stay there forever watching around. The owner is en elegant lady , welcoming and careful. The delicious breakfast is served at the wooden restaurant with character and amazing view . Lunch may be orderd there as well. Although the wi fi runs well only close to the pool and the reception you may buy nice suvenires after having time to discover them by the way.
