Overpriced
Yvonne Fon 18/04/2017 16:11This hotel serves only to support the marina, and due to its remote location is able to charge what they like. Food very ordinary, staff are most friendly but slow and sloppy, typically Caribbean! Rooms are dusty, dirty and in need of an upgrade. The hotel and bar serves a purpose and as such it doesn't need to be grand but this should be reflected in a lower price.
Was here for over a week on a boat

Wifi can be a little iffy, but who cares when ones on holiday.
Good bar with a decent coffee machine and it also does a fab breakfast

Sean Pon 15/02/2017 13:18The only place to eat within many miles, was seated a nice table and my order was taken within 10 min. And again about 5 min later and again about 5 min later and again 5 min later then they got it wrong? Good luck here!
Not a typical 'tourist' destination, but a great stay if you are in the area
Kim Con 15/02/2017 01:33We stayed one night before joining our friends on their boat. It was a clean and comfortable room. Air conditioning was very good. Large shower, room was not large but plenty of room. Some rooms face the jungle, but ours was on the Marina side so had a small balcony. The rooms on that side are slightly more expensive. It is a great view. We did walk on the wide paved path though the jungle and were able to enjoy seeing lush vegetation as well as Capuchin monkeys and leaf cutter ants. The Marina is mostly populated by 'cruisers', people on sailboats that are just there for a few weeks or sometimes for an extended period of time. The restaurant was not exotic but was quite good.

Jack Fon 31/10/2016 20:39We spent three months at the marina while circumnavigating the Caribbean . We loved the location! Within 10 minutes of hiking from the marina grounds we begin seeing and hearing lots of wildlife. We saw howler monkeys on almost every hike and white faced monkeys on occasion. We were not birders at the time but we have since learned we probably saw over 100 species of wildly beautiful birds. (Actually we did see them, we just couldn't give them names.) The road out to Ft. San Lorenzo is about a half mile away. Depending on your level of fitness you can hike from the marina or drive until you find a place to pull over and then just hike along the blacktop for superb birding and wildlife viewing.
The marina property was nice enough. When we were there the food was always pretty good. The service was spotty in quality and slow, a problem that surely begins with management as that was a problem since our first visit back in 2008. Look at other current post to see if that remains a problem.
My overall rating is a three but I do plan to visit there when I return to Panama this spring. This time I return as a true birder with good binoculars and I can't wait! From what I am reading about the reviews of the motel, I will not be staying there.
