Very accommodating to a large group
Deb Con 19/08/2017 17:41We were part of a large singing group in town for the Fringe Festival. All 140 of us were staying at the Sheraton. Check in for such a large group was handled by handing us each an envelope with a key to a room, having our luggage portered to our rooms (THAT took a while, understandably), and sending us to a welcome reception with wine-lots of wine. This was much need since we had spent the rainy afternoon on a bus.
The room was luxurious, to this usually mid-range traveler. Almost too much so, since I never did figure out the lighting system, even with directions.
The staff was invariably accommodating-giving directions, seating us for breakfast, generally helping out.
Breakfast was ample, varied, and delicious. And I love the big pots of tea-in the US you barely get a cup's worth of hot water.
The location is wonderful-we walked to the Tattoo, walked to our concert in St Giles, and walked to our concert in Greyfriars Kirk. There are plenty of nearby restaurants of every type. The hotel restaurant, which we did dine at one evening, is quite modern, which in this case means delicious but almost too precious-and after eating pub food for nearly 2 weeks, skimpy.

Pauline Don 17/08/2017 12:39On a recent holiday to Edinburgh travelling on the Belmond Northern Belle train for 4 days, we were placed in the Sheraton Grand Hotel for 3 nights.
We had a lovely room as we had been given an upgrade but unfortunately it had an adjoining door and we were woken at 2am with our neighbours returning to their room. We could hear every word being said and the same the next morning so we asked to be moved and we were moved within a few hours which was fine. The new room was much smaller and overlooked the car park but it was so quiet!
I don't think we would stay there again by choice as compared to our previous stays in Edinburgh, it just didn't quite live up to our expectations.
Have to say the Reception staff were lovely and the hotel was exceptionally busy with the Festival and Fringe going on.

Diane Hon 16/08/2017 22:16The staff at the Sheraton were wonderful. They helped us with maps and directions as well as suggestions for what we should do. We stayed four nights and then were gone for several nights. We came back for one last night and they greeted us like long lost friends! The location is great. Room was great. We ate in the bar area one night because it was after 10 p.m. and most restaurants were closing. The food and service were great. Highly recommend the Sheraton.
Great location for the centre of Edinburgh
Nigel Mon 16/08/2017 18:26Stayed for 3 nights for the Military Tattoo and the Fringe. Best location to be only 15 minute walk to the castle and the best side to be to join the queque for the second performance. Had a room on the 4th floor with a view of the castle so saw the fireworks on the Friday night as well.
Lovely room with a large super comfy double bed. Big flat screen tv with lots of channels especially for those visitors who are not from the UK. Bathroom slightly compact and the hot water could have been hotter took a long time to fill the bath. Large in room safe and good tea / coffee making facility.
Breakfast excellent. Staff so helpful and pleasant.
