Quiet, Comfortable, Good Location

The hotel lobby is large, modern and comfortable. The front desk was very helpful. The room was quiet and clean. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with many healthy choices. The location is perfect for walking in the pedestrian area. The parking garage is directly next door to the hotel.

Disappointing

I have stayed here for three nights once a year for the last six years, and each year I've been part of a group such that we had at least two rooms and often had four. Not once in five returning years has the staff welcomed us back. Obviously I don't expect the same staff to be here year after year, or even to remember is, but their computers must tell them (and several of us are members of their loyalty program).

This year our group had three rooms, and each of us had problems with our room from the start. One room was not clean (hair, and quite a bit of it, on the bed), the second had a sink that did not work, and the third had an AC unit that made the carpet wet. The response from management was uneven: the AC unit was never fully addressed while we were there (though the carpet was mopped up), the sink was fixed almost immediately, and the unclean room resulted in a room move and upgrade to the club floor.

A clear bright spot in our stay was Angela working breakfast in the restaurant. She was incredibly helpful, friendly and chatty, and we were happy to be greeted by her each morning.

We love the location of this hotel, and it's why we've returned year after year. I'm not sure we will next year. The hotel clearly needs more active management and attention to maintenance and capital improvements.

I have stayed here several times while visiting my kids in Iowa City. Location is excellent, and staff is very accommodating. When I got home after my recent visit, I could not find my glasses. I called the hotel and spoke with Cisco (the Manager). He got on this right away, and within 10 minutes I received a call back that they had found them. I want to thank Ciscoc & Bonnie ( the housekeeping Director) for all their efforts in helping me. I travel ALOT for work, and stay at many hotels, and they definelty exceeded the normal level of service I receive.

We booked for a night in Iowa City. Very close to the pedestrian mall (right outside) you don't have to walk far for the amenities on offer near the city center. The hotel has a nice enough lobby with sitting areas and the bar/restaurant right through double doors. Garage access adjacent to the hotel and parking is validated at the front desk.
Once in the room, you notice the dated nature of the property. The furnishings and decor all harken back to an era that will not be coming back. We were in room 701 which had the additional detraction of being close to the dinging of the elevator and the rumble of the ice machine.
The staff was friendly, beds and pillows comfortable and the bathroom was clean and functional. The wifi is free for guests and was quick and stable.

Great location in city center

Very good location if you need to visit for example city center locations of the university. I was troubled with the aircon system which was too direct on my bed, while the fan had no "off" position, and the window could not be opened. Makes me sick - always - so if you have that problem, this is not for you. Friendly staff.
