We normally stay at Broabeach but thought for the October long weekend we would go somewhere different.
We were pleasantly surprised.
Since we didn't really want to drive and travel for a short 3 day stay, we wanted a resort where we can stay which had a broad selection facilities and restaurants and cafes.
The Sheraton fit the bill perfectly. Didn't really leave the resort, other than a trip to Seaworld with the family.
So we ended up having a relaxing stay that seemed much longer than the 3 days.
The rooms are large and well appointed and modern in what is a huge complex. The type and location of room for such a short stay didn't really matter.
I do recommend getting the breakfast package for convenience.
We ate mostly at the Terraces restaurant - mostly a la carte even though they had buffets on offer - these were ok but did not have the selection of other resorts I have stayed - ie Perth Metropol (amazing)
Get to Terraces early for breakfast, gets busy from 9 (actually too busy).
This is a general criticism of the hotel - either the complex is too large (ie too many rooms for the facilities offered or their simply isn't sufficiently staffed at peak times) I suspect a bit of both.
This is evident in the restaurants at peak times/seasons and in the pool where hotel guests simply come down in the morning an throw towels over deck chairs to reserve them and return two hours later. There simply isn't enough pool furniture to go around for the volume of guests. This was perhaps my biggest criticism of the stay.
On the issue of "reserving" pool furniture - in other resorts this is simply not allowed. Sheraton should discourage this - simple solution is removing towels when chairs are not in use for an extended period (as done in Fiji) alternatively adding more pool furniture.
You have the Mirage shopping (with restaurants) next door and the resort borders on the beach ...again perfect if you are looking for a lazy resort stay!
There is a gym onsite but it is terrible! Accident waiting to happen with ageing equipment.

Let me start by saying , well done Chef !! The food was a highlight . The room was a disaster .. the air con didn't work , the tv didn't work , the toilet ran constantly after flushing and you needed to keep pressing the flush button to try and make it stop . The bathroom is old as is the room , in desperate need of an upgrade . There was a function all checking out at 10.30 say 45 rooms yet they couldn't give us a later checkout to avoid this chaos . Lift your game Sheraton you have lost your way .

The resort has excellent facilities including beach access at the rear of the property and a 2 minute walk to the Marina Mirage shopping complex. The gardens are magnificent and all credit must go to Carl and his team.The most outstanding aspect of the resort however is the staff. The housekeepers, Terraces staff and the porters make the Sheraton Grand such a wonderful place to visit. Mark I am sure is proud to lead such a wonderful team.Thank you to all of you for once again making our visit so very special.The sleep countdown begins again ....

amazing place to stay the best ever the ambience, the accomodation. the fine dining and drinking places are great. All the staff were so nice and obliging it is definitely a 5 star resort and more. The seafood buffet was lovely as was the buffet breakfasts.

The hotel is on a lovely spot on the Gold Coast and superbly positioned to easily go for a walk on the beach. The breakfast buffet was excellent with great service. The seafood buffet used to be fabulous but on this trip was disappointing and we couldn't get the waiters attention to order drinks. We booked a Lagoon Room thinking it was like the Sheraton Port Douglas swim out Lagoon Rooms, it wasn't. It was nice, but not what we were expecting. There is a lovely cocktail bar, Pearls Bar near the lobby, the service here was excellent and the view beautiful! I'm a Platinum member so use SPG regularly, but we were a little disappointed with this experience.
