Horrible service in an overpriced resort
KJ Lon 31/08/2017 09:54Service level? Puts a shame on the Sheraton / SPG brand.
We checked in this afternoon around 1+pm. Ended up debating with check-in counter staff about breakfast inclusion. Staff insisted it's not included and then pointed out booking was made via TripAdvisor / Booking.com so it's not their problem if these sites advertised incorrectly. Ok fine, we topped up the full price for 4 adults' breakfast for 2 days at a incredulous rate.
Next we requested for King bed for 2 rooms. Was told we needed to wait as rooms were not ready. So we had our lunch at the resort. About 2+pm, 1 room was available so we let our parents have the room first. Horrors of horror when we opened the door.... the chambermaid was still inside our assigned room and she muttered something about not ready. So all of us waited outside for another 15 mins.
We waited inside our parent's room till 3pm without any update of news our room availability. We decided to call the Guest Services and was told our room is ready. Horror #2: they assigned a room with 2 single beds..... this time my patience was wearing out and I called the Guest Services to point this out. The lady could converse in English but said she will transfer my call to front desk however it was engaged thus she promised they will call back. Received a call about 10mins later from a lady clueless about what's was our issue and couldn't understand English. She then hung up and called my parents instead apparently saying their room with King bed was meant for us!!! What kind of customer service is this? This is ridiculous.
I was getting furious, walked to the front desk and demanded to speak with the Manager. A lady attended to me could understand English) and said our booking via TripAdvisor didn't specify King bed. I reiterated our request during check-in and told her it's basic service to inform customer upfront if a King bed was not available.
I also recounted the situation and informed her that it's not correct for the staff to call my parents.... but she just looked at the computer screen.
Well another room was assigned to us.... guess what happened next.... Horror #5. The chambermaid was inside our assigned room..... the photo speaks for itself.
Think hard if you want to pay for the Sheraton brand here..... should remove that logo from this place as it's just your typical local China hotel.
What a horrible start to the vacation.
Perfect hotel
sara con 20/08/2017 16:42We stayed in Sanya Resort last holidays and we can assure that it's a Wonderful place to enjoy a few days in the island.
The hotel has great services to enjoy if the weather fails, they offer a variety of restaurants giving the possibility of trying different types of oriental cuisine, the buffet charm us, the staff was so kindly and always tried to make our stay confortable. We highly recommend to stay there.
Relaxation after long trip
nancynor2non 01/06/2017 23:03This hotel is perfect if you like the beach and pools, no roads to cross just miles of sand , glorious swimming pools and usually quiet.
The grounds are pristine.
Love the restaurant set on the beach in the evenings.
Nice hotel with reasonable price
Michelle Con 23/05/2017 06:30The hotel is relatively old but clean. Most of the staffs are really helpful, besides the front desk lady who got a really bad manner during the check in.
They have a Chinese restaurant where selling a really good seafood platter with reasonable price. (I'm too afraid of ordering seafood in the local restaurant, since it's all listed as market price.)
They have a nice spa with discounted treatment in happy hour section.
BTW, they have a good selection of local tour package. Just check with the concierge.
a good place to stay in Sanya
lyt900605on 17/05/2017 05:34I had a great and relaxed time staying here. I was impressed by the lawns and gardens in the hotel, they are definitely the best in the area. The staffs are quite helpful and friendly too. Though the facilities seems a little bit old , they are well maintained and clean. Our room is spacious and has a nice ocean view. Plus, the ocean bar is the best in the area as far as I know. It feels like the Lanikai beach in Oahu. Overall, I strongly recommended this hotel in Sanya but a good timing is important. Avoid the Chinese new year season which would be quite crowded here.
