The room was Tiny (with a capital T) with no air conditioning. The t.v. was essentially worthless as it had maybe 4 channels that came in. Didn't even have NBC! I ended up using my IPad to watch shows in the evening. The walls were very paper thin; I could here word for word the family in an adjacent room just speaking in a normal voice. The room didn't even have a suitcase stand in which to put my opened luggage! They had a little pot to make a cup of coffee, but no tea or hot chocolate. The hotel has two elevators, one of which was not working the whole time I was there (5 days). Needless to say, I thought they were WAY over priced for the amenities and I will not be staying there again.

Took 2 granddaughters. Hotel worn and in disrepair. One elevator down with chairs stacked in front. Made access to room slower. Bottom of bathroom door peeling and handle very loose. Bed horribly uncomfortable. Hung on to side so as not to roll to center (think I Love Lucy). 1 small shampoo/rinse for 4 people. Took two hours to get more. No soap dish-soap got mushy then dried onto counter-nice. Dirty. Picture with greasy streaks all over. Ceiling with interesting stains. Closet missing one door. I say this because room was $270 a night-way too expensive for quality. I'm willing to pay good money for nice room, ammenities and details. This hotel did not deliver.

This hotel served its purpose for our family vacation. It is an older hotel but the location is perfect. The staff ate friendly and willing to help out when needed. The room was clean but you could hear the people upstairs and they sounded like a herd of elephants. I would read up on this hotel and ask questions before you go. There is no ac but the breeze from the ocean and the fans worked great. We were actually cold one night. One of the elevators is out of service and walking up and down the stairs was quicker then waiting. We got our exercise. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to people who are in a wheel chair or have extreme difficulty walking. We had a kitchenette but there was no soap and no pans, so if you want to cook bring your own. The swimming pool was big and it was a lot of fun. The hot tub was small but clean. They could put more chairs around the pool to make it more comfortable. I booked early and got a great deal if I was paying full price I might not be so happy with my stay.

Worst Family Vacation in 8 years!!

Traveled to the Shilo with my children and other children. #1 issue. After driving 5 hours, went to check in and my card was declined! Fortunately I had another credit card to use. The girl who checked me in said she was new. I called the bank and told the card was declined because the incorrect expiration date was entered, so the bank declined the card and locked my acct. Notified the front desk of the error. #2 issue, I was there from 8/1 to 8/4. One elevator was out of order, and the other elevator barely worked! Most of the time we had to take the stairs #3 Had to beg for washcloths and towels daily! The front desk and housekeepers said they have a shortage, and would bring some later. Never got the towels, had to go back to the front and beg again!#4 The restaurant was slow and out of everything we asked for on the menu. We gave up and went to a restaurant down the street. It was awful for $874!! The Shilo should have paid us to stay there. Their rates are expensive, and the quality is hortible. The Shilo is taking advantage of consumers, and don't care. They successfully ruined my vacation with the kids.

Lots of problems here

1. Only one working elevator which would arrive at your floor, not open, then go up/down to another floor while you have already waited 3-5 minutes for it.
2. Burned out bulbs in bathroom, dirty towels left after room was "cleaned", and no clean towels and/or washclothes left to replace them.
3. No a/c. Yes a fan, but noisy running all night trying to cool the room.
4. Ice machine not working on my floor.
5. Bars nearby noisy after hours.
I'm staying at another hotel on my next visit.
