Not your father's Shilo Inn

This is no longer a Shilo Inn. The sign on the street still says Shilo Inn, but it is in the process of changing to a Holiday Inn Express.
Call the hotel before you book. The description, for the room type, on the online site we were looking at, was not up to date.
The room and beds were very nice. There was still some work to be done on the windows.
As of the first weekend in May, they were still texturing and wallpapering the walls, working on siding, tile, and brick around the entryway, and some finish work on the doors and frames. Construction during the day, but it was very quiet at night. They are expecting to be done with the remodel early to mid June.
All the staff, we dealt with, were very nice.

Hotel was under renovation and should not have been open for business. Lobby was completely torn apart and poorly staffed. The room we were in was "newly renovated". Had to pull tape off the bathroom door which had clearly just been painted. Tiles that had just been installed were falling off walls and new wallpaper was pealing off walls. And with all the renovation, bathtub was not replaced even though chipped and stained. Uff da. Had I known this was all going on, we would not have booked rooms. They charged us full price too. Not cool.

Still under construction not worth $100+ a night

2 nights 2/16 to 2/18/2017 at Newberg, OR Shilo Inn, worst hotel experience ever & not worth $105 night even with $20 off bill after complaining. Prior to getting there, they called back after wife made last minute reservation to warn of construction going on, did not anticipate walking into disaster zone & too late to find another place. Lobby completely stripped out with no flooring, walk between unfinished walls, saw horse, & do not enter tape to get to elevator, stairway on opposite side completely closed off a safety/fire hazard, room still unfinished, bed spread cover torn, poor air circulation, outside exterior roof & siding could use power wash, and still charged $211.20 for two nights, will avoid Shilo Inns from now on based on this experience.

This Shill Inn would not honor our gift certificate, even though it had not expired. They were remolding and put us in a remolded room that clearly wasn't done. That said, the bed was comfortable, and the heat and shower were fine.

I booked this hotel accidentally by checking on the IHG site for Newberg hotels. IHG lists a Holiday Inn Express at the same address. I could not book on their website but when I called the number listed I was able to make a reservation.

I was a bit surprised to drive up and see a Shilo Inn instead of a Holiday Inn Express. The hotel is undergoing some much needed updating. My room was on the third floor, spacious, the new bed, chair, and wall unit has been installed in room 309. The room was clean, the coffee maker was broken, and the wifi was so slow I could not stream movies from my iPad.

The staff are all very friendly, Pam was especially helpful with my check in process. I think this will be a nice place to stay for work purposes once it is finished with renovations.
