What People are saying

Very outdated, bed bugs

Kadi Aon 26/08/2017 00:27

The staff was very friendly. The hotel is incredibly old and smells old. Every single day we were there (three days) I had to go to the front desk and get our key reset because it wouldn't open the door. And at 11 pm with tired kids, it was irritating. On the last day my husband work up with bites all up his leg, about 12 of them in lines of 3-4 bites. We discovered these are bed bug bites. Our friends who also stayed found bed bugs in their bed as well on a different floor then us. The pictures of the swimming pool look great, but in reality, it looks like it has never been cleaned. It has a dark yellow/brown tint to it. The chlorine levels made our eyes burn just walking into the pool room. We would not stay here again.

like a dump. It's so old the carpets bad, things are falling apart the phone is from the 1970s

I was shocked this place was well over the 100 price point and it is definitely not a 2 Star Motel it feels like a one-star or lower. There is one entrance through the front door and one elevator. And the elevator looks a very outdated the tiles are broke. Not happy with this Motel if I could get out of this reservation I would.. but I have no idea where else to go

One night for eclipse watching...

AnnaDan Mon 23/08/2017 00:00

This hotel is OLD. I can not remember the last time I stayed in a hotel with a phone in the bathroom and no Computer plug-ins anywhere in the room. However, we came for the eclipse and even the though the hotel was booked solid, the service was friendly, the breakfast area clean and the pool and hot tub in working order. (The grandkids are all about the pool.)
You get what you pay for and I was happy to get a room that fit my needs...... a bed (no bugs), pool, internet and easy on and off I5.

Won't return

We arrived in Salem mid week and discovered most hotel rooms are rented out during the week due to legislature being in session. Saw overall good reviews for the Shilo Inn so figured we'd give it a try. YIKES!! I asked for a renovated room and there weren't any. The desk clerk said they could only do sections at a time because there wasn't enough money.

There were small holes in the sheets and the blanket (under the 1980's bedspread) had the satin trim tearing off of it. It was a large suite, though we only needed the bed and bath. The television was pretty small, and seemed like it, too, was from 1980's. The picture wasn't good and there were really limited channels. The bathroom and such seemed clean enough, but overall the room seemed really dated, not well cared for, and not some place to relax.

If you're just looking for a place to sleep, and the Hampton Inn and the likes are full, this place is better than your car, but next time we will take our son up on his offer for the air mattress for sure!

1am fire alarm

Cassandy33on 30/07/2017 03:56

Room smelled of chemicals trying to cover up a smell, chlorine from pool is pungent clear into the elevator down the hall. Stayed one night, awoke at 1am to fire alarms ringing, evacuated downstairs. No communication from staff even though there was a fire truck on site. Truck left roughly 20 minutes later with still no sign of any hotel staff around. Finally headed back into lobby, instead of helping people load orderly into elevator staff was rude and snappy about how many people should go at once- a little direction could have gone a long way. At check in I was given $10 one of my rooms due to a computer error that caused a delay in check in, it just went downhill from there.
