What People are saying

dreadful food

Lisa-luan Aon 16/08/2017 20:49

my friend is gluten intolerant so can't have any bread. She ordered a burger without a bun.. they brought her out a veggie burger covered in bread crumbs, when she sent it back the young girl told her it's what she ordered so that was sent back. She then ordered a olive / humus gluten free bread board. The stick veg int the humus was about 3 days old and turning brown so that was sent back!
My other friend ordered a normal burger & chips. the burger came out cremated!
I had a prawn sandwich, on my last bite I saw a hair on my plate!
when we complained about the food we were told.. It's ok i'm sure the food will be better next time! no apology or mention of a refund or money off!!
There will be no next time

We seemed to be totally invisible to the staff , was told a waitress called Laura would be over to get us our drinks 25 mins later we had to go up and order ourselves , we tried to order pudding ,again no one came over , we gave up and got the bill , it's a shame as the food when we got it was good it was just the laid back staff .

Nice modern place to stay

The reviews were a bit mixed so had my reservations - but that's because they're grouped in with food reviews....

The hotel rooms are clean, modern, of reasonable size - we booked a twin room, the staff were nice and helpful - offering info of the local area - I recommend the Maritime museum.

Breakfast was nice, with a different range of choices - they were flexible around requests too.

In short, if looking for a good stay in the area, this would meet all that you need as far as hotels.

As a side note: the food in the bar area was nice with a good range, although is a touch on the pricey side.

Food Over-Priced and not actually that great!

A group of us decided to go out for lunch on Sunday. Not only was the food overpriced it was pretty shoddy. The salad with our food was limp, the chips were pretty poor and the burger that one of our party had was dry and over cooked as were the prawns. For the price of the food you actually expect better quality. I'm not sure if it was a Sunday and they were geared up just for roasts or maybe there is a trainee chef but the food was bad.

Comfortable but flawed

Stayed for 2 nights. Room spacious and comfortable with a view of the river. Tea/coffee and shortbread biscuits were provided and replenished each day. There was only a small section of window which would open and no air conditioning. The weather was not unusually hot, but we really needed these windows open as the sun had been streaming in all day. Unfortunately there was a loud humming noise coming from vents below the window ( I think), so we had to shut the window. It was still pretty loud even with the windows shut. I imagine it would have been unbearable on a hot day. ( a small electric desk fan was provided, but I don't think this would be enough).
In common with many hotels, it had clearly been designed by a man - the power point for the hairdryer was on the left of the bathroom door but the mirror was on the right. I could just about reach the mirror to dry my hair, but the flex was stretched across the doorway which must be a health and safety issue as my husband was in the bathroom at the time. It was one of those stupid dryers which require a button to be pressed throughout, which was extremely difficult to do while stretching the flex to its maximum length.
Full english breakfast was OK on the first day, but on the second, the service was very slow and lackadaisical and I ended up with the worst croissants I have ever had, the texture being more like a rather peculiar sweet roll and the outside like the crust on a chewy loaf. We dd not have dinner there because the allergen list showed virtually nothing gluten free for my husband who has coeliac disease. ( he could have had nachos but nothing else according to their information).
Since I came home, I have noticed that the rooms are available for 20% less than we paid which is really annoying.
