Typical large tourist hotel

Stayed three nights as this is a convenient location to visit the attractions in the Shari area. Room was nice and spacious, combining western beds with a Japanese living area, with separate bathroom and toilet and changing room. Stayed at the end of the 5th floor in the new wing, with a side view of Utoro and facing the hotel open air car park. The area around the hotel is quiet. The only points of interest nearby are a hot springs foot bath and campgrounds with a scenic viewpoint of the port and sunset. Dinner buffet has a wide array of Japanese cooked food and raw seafood and a hotpot where you place vegetables and choice of soup base. Saw many children enjoying the chocolate and matcha fondue. Would rate the food as good but not outstanding. Breakfast was typical Japanese food and a small selection of bread and cereal. The only negative comment is the crowds of tour bus guests. Timing for dinner and breakfast is needed to avoid very crowded dining room. The staff throughout the hotel were extremely efficient and polite.

I read the previous review about this hotel, mostly complained about service but we still chose this hotel. I found that the staff were so nice and helpful. Service is good. Food is buffet dinner and has wide varieties, including local food. We did enjoy food in Hokkaido and this hotel. The location is not so near the beach , but it is in walking distance to port and restaurant.

Truely japanese hotel with stning view of the sea

This japanese hotel was on the cliff next to the japan sea. You could view beautiful sunset on the way to the hotel and the famous drift ice !! Can also view along the way without going into the ship!! It was such amazing view I encourage everyone to see!! The hotel was also used in the past by the king of japan himself and his wife so you could imagine how grand it could be!! The onsen was large .you should try the outdoor onsen!!!iit is a beauty! For dinner they serve hotpot all you can eat and buffet breakfast. Of course the rumor is true that the breakfast closed exactly 9:30!! That means everyone out !! All the staff would stand and bow until you leave the room. It is their culture and we accept this,it is what we came for that is to see their culture . Other than that the japanese rooms are spacious and the futon is soft and comfy . Would look forward to come again

Great place to stay

We had two wonderful nights at the Shiretoko Prince Hotel Kazanamiki. Caught the local bus from Shiretoko-Shari station and were dropped right at the door. Our room was really large and beautifully appointed with views across to the drift ice (910) Beds were comfortable with additional toppers available if needed. Our stay included half board, the breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent. Lots of choices (predominately Japanese). We enjoyed making our own individual hot pots at our table at dinner (both nights). Staff are really efficient and very helpful. Hotel is within walking distance of the nature and light show. Also within walking distance of the town centre.

The staff there were very nice and helpful. Although they did not speak English well, they did try their best to help me manage my bookings with the local travel agencies.
The room was large and clean, and the Japanese-style dinner buffet was great.
Highly recommended!
