Ocean view from your own room

Shodoshima international hotel is a nice location in this island from where we can see ocean view room as like a postcard
15 minute walk from port or wait for shuttle bus from hotel no need to pay
Japanese style room with tatami. Japanese style breakfast, nice swimming pool
Self Laundry service without liquid shop hard to find a shop close to hotel so prepare in front
Quite pity need to check out 10:00 am to rush after breakfast great ocean view from lobby ( angels way )
Quite expensive choose ocean side room have a great stay in beautiful hotel

Great seaside hotel

It is a well maintained hotel with sea view. We chose it because of the Angel's Road next to it. We requested non-smoking room but upon check-in were told it was not available. We could not stand the strong smell and complained. The reception staff then agreed to change our room to one in the east building which was much better and newer as well. Our spacious room had 2 twin beds on one side and a Japanese-style sitting area on a raised platform. The bathroom was a bit small but it was not a problem as we enjoyed Japanese onsen. We took a walk on the Angel's Road during low-tide at night and felt the romance.

The hotel is located in a very special place across the Angel Road, which we could see from our window. The staff was amazing. The receptionist spoke good English. She was nice and welcoming and helped us plan a day trip and find an awesome restaurant. The room is old fashioned though and below expectation - it is big and has a very nice tea area, but could use a touch up.

Convenient

Pros:
- conveniently located with a bus stop right at the hotel; 1-min walk to the Angel Road
- be able to watch the changes of Angel Road access from the room
- breakfast provides many local food varieties

Cons:
- had pre-arranged a hotel pick up from the pier but no one was there when I arrived. We had to call the hotel again at the pier.
- the public bath has practically no view
- the pillow is too thick that affect the sleeping quality

Good dinner but room under expectations

We were traveling with a group and it seems that we went to this place due to lack of rooms at higher level hotels.
We did not like the rooms for various reasons:
- we could not get rid of a strong and unpleasant smell inside the room despite opening the windows for hours
- the beds and mattresses were very hard and I could hardly sleep
- the bathroom was extremely small, all we got was a tiny towel per person and there was no room for placing even a very small toilet kit.
Breakfast was served in a sort of a huge canteen, with hardly clean tables and low level food.
As a very positive point I want to mention the excellent Japanese dinner they served to our group in a private room. The food was excellent and very artistically done as in the best Japanese restaurant.
