What People are saying
It was avarage
Matthew Gon 12/08/2017 02:13The rooms were clean and comfortable but the overall appearance of the grounds is very cluttered. Rooms were very close together and tight parking. There is a pool which seemed well kept. There are bikes for guest's use and a common area with a BBQ which is nice. One thing which I found disturbing was one of the employees was wearing a t-shirt with inappropriate writing on it. I can't imagine someone walking around wearing such a thing at a place of business. The dryer (which I put money in) did not dry my clothes. I do have to say that the location is EXCELLENT. Walking distance to Parson's Beach which is lovely.
Quaint Lil' Spot
Lisa Aon 27/06/2017 23:00These little cottages (some of which are connected) are perfect. We had a mini kitchenette which was very clean. They didn't provide the #2 coffee filters for the coffee pots, nor napkins/papertowels so make sure you bring them. (they didn't have pot-holders in the kitchen so we just used the kitchen towel. But we made breakfast every day....bacon, eggs, and toast (they have a 2 slice toaster) But we at dinner out. It's (maybe) a five minute ride to the beach....if you have a dog....bring him along. (Can't get on the bed though unless you provide something that covers the bed entirely) I didn't like the fact that our pup had to walk so far to go potty....she is only 7 months, but is VERY well mannered. But we made due and had only missed our mark a couple of times but we alway's carry doggie-waste-bags just in case. Your very close to some awesome whole belly clams, lobster rolls etc. Mikes is a great up the road in Ogunquit...Enjoy your stay....
Not to be Trusted
Marina Kon 16/10/2016 23:02I am not happy with what I am writing. I firmly believe when you pay good money to stay in a hotel/motel/resort you have a reasonable expectation to NOT have your privacy or safety compromised and this happened earlier today. I feel it is important to share my experience as a warning to future travelers and to Sonja Ducharme, the manager.
This was our 2nd stay here, deciding on a 2 bedroom cottage. A nice cottage, recently renovated, no doubt because it is For Sale by the Owner. I was fully prepared to write a good review when we checked out on Tuesday, October 18th.
Earlier this morning we went to breakfast taking our dog with us. We came back to the cottage just around 11 am and were mortified to see Sonja standing at the top of the front steps with our door wide open, and two other women. About to enter our cottage, it was obvious. Instead of leaving and apologizing, Sonja said the following:
1. Thought you had checked out because most of the others had checked out and your Jeep wasn't in its spot.
2. Oh, we weren't going in, I just realized as I opened the door that your things are in here.
3. I just want to show these women the cottage because it is for sale and they asked to see it, we'll just be a minute.
And so, these people entered our cottage, without our permission. And all Sonja could say in her defense was, I didn't know you were still there.
Here is what I have to say to you Sonja: Trust and reputation are the cornerstones of any business.
1.You aren't trustworthy. You are there to ensure my safety. Thankfully I didn't leave my dog there, I wouldn't but it could happen. He's a sweet boy but....
2. You failed to mention or hint at the possibility that you might be showing the cottage. I do not want to hear about fine print on any possible disclosures. You need to verbally and in writing disclose the possibility and give the option to allow or not.
3. You are a liar. You have an electronic booking system. You have a board in the office with all the room keys. You don't have THAT many cottages that you don't know about occupancy.
4. If you stick with I "forgot" or "it slipped my mind" than you really don't understand the fundamentals of customer service let alone hospitality.
As I said, we were booked until Tuesday, however, as she didn't hesitate to bring people in while we were standing there, we felt we couldn't trust her in the future and seriously wondered about the previous day.
I demanded and got a refund for the 2 additional nights we were scheduled to stay. I made her print it up and do it in front of me. I could demand more, however I fulfill my obligations and be sure, other than the trash in the cans and a few bottles for recycling we left the cottage in pristine condition.
I hope the Shorelands Guest Resort takes appropriate measures to rectify this, however I have my doubts.
BE CAREFUL..
Trip to Nova Scotia
Photorambleron 11/09/2016 18:54We stay here for three nights on our way to Nov Scotia. We stayed in building #8 , had two full baths and two bedrooms with living room between . Each bedroom and the living room had a tv. The kitchen was very cramped but we were able to squeeze in for dinner.
Rooms clean, baths clean.
Beach was 1/2 mile good place to fish or sun. Town was about two miles . Golf close by. Roads a little too tight for my comfort to bike on.
Nice place lots to do staff friendly
Great no-frills stay with a young child and dog
Buckeyes_9802on 04/09/2016 20:21Had a lovely one-night stay at Shorelands Guest Resort and hope to return again. About a 15-minute walk to Parson's Beach (my new favorite beach - so quiet, peaceful and lovely). Had nice take-out dinner and breakfast picnics on the beach (low tide was on our side). We stayed in a studio and while small, the vaulted ceilings made it feel bigger. Had everything we needed including a mini fridge (little freezer was big enough for leftover ice cream). So nice to have a dog-friendly option so close to the beach.
